Q:i just got it like 3 days ago and its no signs of infection and im just worried it might get that way. ive been reading online about people who got infections and people who had all this crap happen. what do i need to do to stop one from coming i mean i use contact solution and cotton swabs wipe it down with wet ones and clean it when i sweat and turn it twice a day.. im always careful about keeping it clean im a neat clean freak but is there anything else i can do to stop infection from coming: go to safepiercing.org for proper aftercare and what to avoid. if you use store bought saline, make sure it is additive free, but, the sea salt soaks on the above site works much better. also, stop turning it. it disrupts the newly forming skin which prolongs healing and makes you more prone to infection. turning the earring is something that comes from the old way of ear piercing (with a gun). it does not apply to any other piercings, and, we know now that it's not good for any piercing. the 'gun piercers' aren't real piercers and don't know anything about it also, it takes up to a year to heal

Q:I've had my scaffolding piercing for about a week now and when cleaning i've just dabbed the hydrogen peroxide and salt water around my ear. However i read that i should be rotating it when cleaning it. Should i rotate it after only a week?: Do what the piercer told you to do. If they didn't say and you are concerned, ring them and ask. Personally I would say don't; the fluid that the piercing naturally leaks while healing can cake on the bar and dry into tiny but alarmingly sharp lumps. If you push these into the piercing accidentally while turning it it will really really hurt! They can also damage the newly forming tissue, delaying healing and possibly creating excess scar tissue. The bar will move naturally with the movements of your body anyway within the constraints of (sorry if you're squeamish but I can't put it any more delicately) any crusting around the bar. Just keep it clean and keep hair and face products away from it and it should be great.

Q:i had my scaffold piercing done in the summer holidays and wen i went back to school (currently in my last year) they told me to take it out so i had to go back to the piercer. Q:Okay, quick question. I dropped into a couple of piercing studios yesterday to inquire about getting a scaffold done. Both places informed me that it's not a good idea to have it pierced with a bar straight off, as the pressure from the jewellery combined with the swelling when first pierced can seriously slow down the healing rate. Is this true? The second place said they will pierce both holes with rings, and these can be changed to a bar after around 6 to 8 weeks.Is this the best option? Thanks for any replies.: Having one bar can definitely put a lot of pressure on the piercing but it's the best way to go about getting an industrial piercing. It can be a difficult piercing to heal is all. If you get two rings it is very likely that one will slightly migrate in angle and that is going to make it impossible to properly fit a bar through the two holes. Plus, 6-8 weeks would be WAY way way too early to change a cartilage piercing. Try 6-12 months. And an industrial will never reject simply because of the bar, it will reject if it was pierced incorrectly or on someone's ear that is not anatomically correct for the piercing. And I promise, from someone who has had helix piercings done with rings and with straight barbells as well as having one single barbell through my industrial your hair can get caught on them all. If the bar fits properly the balls should fit pretty snugly against your ear.

Second of all...according to OSHA (Occupation Safety and Health Administration), NO ONE can walk on a scaffold beam outside the support ropes OR SET ANY OBJECT DOWN outside the support ropes. Hence the answers for both questions are 1 meter. It doesn't matter what a calculation will yield...NO ONE can walk on the beam outside the support ropes safely. Even if a torque balance yields that it will not put the ropes in compression and buckle them...it still isn't considered to be safe by OSHA if the painter is outside the ropes.
