- Q: i have lived in york for ten years and have been told many times that the minster in york has had scaffolding up for decades and that it has to stay there for political or religious reason there is never any work done or indeed workers on the scaffolding. can anyone shed any light on the matter for me or is it just an urban myth and nothing more than on going restoration.
- York Minster Scaffolding
- Q: i had it done 2/3 months ago, it was fine at first but now on each end i have two lumps on my ear:S there relitavely smal...the size of like a really tiny pea.there really painfull and sore and quite red and sometimes they scab over with yellowy crust [yes i know sounds disguisting]im just a bit worried that its gone all weird or are these normal? am i cleaning it right?
- I had the same situation occur when I got my scaffold/industrial done. I wouldn't be too concerned. The lumps are called hypertrophic scars, and supposedly they are pretty common and are caused by overcleaning, harsh products, or (as I think was my case) general irritation from the jewelry moving repeatedly back and forth through the piercing or being bumped around or rubbed/touched. Mine lasted quite a long time. Try leaving your piercing alone for a couple of days. Then salt water solutions or compresses are supposed to help the lumps to heal, and I also used tea tree oil and neosporine intermittently. Hot compresses like a heated washcloth applied to the area help to reduce the lumps, as well. Sometimes it's recommended to try another type of jewelry, like titanium, or switch temporarily to two separate bars. You might also try finding a really gentle cleanser/soap. I just kept my original piercing, using the above techniques off and on, and after months of the lumps remaining red and sore, they just went away totally. Just keep your eye out for any pussing (hypertrophic scars ooze, but they don't usually pus), increased swelling, and the area feeling very hot- these are signs of infectiona nd you should see your doc right away. Good luck! :)
- Q: Im hoping to get an industrial/scaffold piercing done at the very beginning of the summer holidays. Is it possible that they can be pierced with 2 separate pieces of jewellery rather than one bar. Also would it be healed in time to take it out once the holidays are over (6 weeks)??Please help??!?Thanks x
- Yep, some piercers prefer to do it that way. Just make sure you let them know that that's what you want when you go into the shop and they can accommodate you. No cartilage piercing is healed enough to remove in 6 weeks. Cartilage piercings can take anywhere from 6-12 MONTHS to fully heal.
- Q: A scaffold is constructed by placing two supports under a 13 ft, 9 in (a) board weighing 84 lbs. The supports are each 2 ft, 8 in (b) from their respective ends. Two painters stand on the board; one weighs 158 lbs and stands 4 ft, 11 in (c) from the left end of the board. Where must the 222 lbs painter stand so that each support carries the same weight? (express your distance in feet from the right end of the board (d).)please help!! thanks(:
- Total weight = 222 + 158 + 84 = 464 lb So, each support must carry 232 lbs Working in inches: Take moment about Right hand end Board is assumed to be uniform - CG is at the center (232 x 32) + (232 x 133) = (158 x 106) + ( 84 x 82.5 ) +(222 x d)7424 + 30856 = 16748 + 6930 + 222d 222d = 14602 d = 65.77 inches Distance of 222 lb painter should be 5ft 5.77inches from Right end
- Q: I am currently taking early childhood care education as my college major. I am learning about ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development), and scaffolding the the development in early childhood. How would you explain, and define scaffolding
- Scaffolding basically means being the support (a scaffold is a support) in the child's learning. A preschooler can do a range of things. He or she will have mastered some things already and there will also be things that are beyond what he or she can do. When playing with the preschooler, you want to make sure that what's going on falls in that range (zone of proximal development). Don't give him or her something that's too easy or too hard to do, but play games that make them think a little and use what he or she already knows to take it a bit further. I hope I'm not confusing you more. In one sentence..scaffolding is supporting the child in learning something new based on what they already can do or know.
- Q: He pushes a can over the scaffold at 15 meters and it takes 3.25 seconds for it to land.I keep doing the problem over and over. the Correct answer is 20.5 m/s, however I keep arriving to the solution of 17 m/s. I solved it by doing Vf^2 = Vi^2 + 2adwhere the initial velocity is zero and the acceleration is -g. I made my coordinate system so that down is negative in which the distance will be negative. This however, did not give me the correct answer. Am I right or is the book right?
- The initial velocity is not zero since the scaffold is moving upward when the can gets pushed over. And final velocity, vf, does not represent the speed of the scaffold (if that is what you're trying to solve). y = (vo)(t) - (1/2)gt? 15 m = (vo)(3.25 s) - (1/2)(9.81 m/s?)(3.25 s)? vo = +20.5 m/s
- Q: Which hurts less, the piercing at the top of the ear, or the piercing from one side of the upper ear to the other? Thanks. =)
- The first piercing of the scaffold will feel the same as getting your helix done. The second will hurt a bit more. The healing of a scaffold, however, will probably be more painful than just one helix piercing and will take a bit longer.
- Q: how did they turn the cells into a polymer for the heart scaffold ?
- May have misunderstood. The heart is gently stripped of cells by using a detergent - this leaves the extracelllular matrix - a polymer of collagen - inert and insoluble. New cells (stem cells) will then be added to the structure to repopulate it with living heart muscle which gain coordination and structure from the matrix.
- Q: Specification and type of scaffold erection
- technical requirementThe materials used for steel pipe scaffold shall meet the following requirements:1 steel pipe diameter should be 48 ~ 51mm, wall thickness of ~ 3.5mm, length of 2.1 ~ 2.8m and 4 ~ 6.5m is appropriate, there are serious corrosion, bending, cracks, damage shall not be used.
- Q: I want to get a scaffolding piercing, but i just wanna know some information.. past experiences etc. So far i have two lobe piercings on both ears and the pain wasn't too bad, but i've never had a piercing on the upper ear. How much will it cost? (I live in the UK) Just some information i guess (: thanks
- I have two lobe piercings on both ears, two cartilage piercings and an industrial that i got five months ago. I was expecting my industrial to be very painful but it wasn't that bad (i have a high pain tolerance though) its a bearable pain. Like all other piercings the healing process is the worst part and still when i bump it (like when im doing my hair) it hurts like a B****! lol. And don't play with it alot when you first get it, it causes scar tissue bumps. Use H20cean spray or you can do 1/4 tsp of sea salt and 1 cup of water to help heal it. The healing time is long, 4 months to a year. I paid $65 dollars in the us idk how much that is UK. It was definitely worth it though! Go for it :)
