Q: I've had my scaffolding piercing for about a week now and when cleaning i've just dabbed the hydrogen peroxide and salt water around my ear. However i read that i should be rotating it when cleaning it. Should i rotate it after only a week?: you dont need to rotate a scaffolding piercing because its in such a place that it will rotate on its own throughout the day/night

Q: i got my scaffold piercing 4 days ago and it still hurtsit usually doesn't hurt when nothing touches it, but then with the lightest touch of a finger or anything else, it hurts badly.i just cleaned it with h2Ocean and a q-tip and now it hurts really bad. :|should it not be hurting by now? or is this normal.? if its normal.. how long until it heals/stops hurting like a *****. hah: When I got my ears pierced professionally, they only hurt for a couple days, maybe a week if I messed with them too much. Later, I personally double pierced my earlobes with a sterile needle at home, it's been over a month and it still occasionally hurts when I sleep on it weird. That is my experience, however it depends if they use a gun or a needle, where exactly you have it pierced, and other factors still can change (infections) the amount of healing time. But a good ballpark figure is about 1-2 weeks, but I know people who's pain can last a month. Good luck, and make sure you find a good professional piercer, and not the local mall free piercing preteen shops :).

Thanks.: my experience was easy and fast. it was the next day waking up that kills you! keep in mind that its thick cartilage, but it is really worth it. you'll get used to it by like day 3 or 4 but and tug or pull will remind you of the pain. i recommend it!

And also with the lip, is it more like the tongue with what foods you can eat and how hard it is to eat?: The lip is an interesting piercing. The person doing your piercing will clamp you lip, causing a mild discomfort to distract you and guide the needle and ring in, takes less than a minute. Virtually painless, unless your pain threshold is sensitive. Also, if you get a monroe (left upper lip) or madonna (right upper lip), it would vary from a medusa (center middle lip) because that us where the skin is the thickest. Lower lips piercings are about the same. You start of with a longer laret ring for two weeks to compensate for swelling than get a normal one. It is going inside your mouth so be careful how you chew. m Clean the inside of your mouth after every time you eat with a non alcohol mouth rinse or saltwater rinse. As for the outside take some warm water and non iodized salt and gently twist the labret while using a q tip to gently clean around it.

Q: i got my scaffold done quite a while ago and it still really hurts and is all lush and crusty,loli know it takes agessss to heal but could i take it out and put normall small earrings in each whole instead? Which would i have to use? thanks: in my opinion you should ride it out and just clean it more often. not only will the piercings give you trouble if you try to change the earring now, the piercings themselves will move slightly and you won't be able to put an industrial bar back through it. if you can live with these go through with it, if not, wash often, rotate the bar constantly and avoid sleeping on it and getting your hair caught up in it. like you said, piercings in the cartilage are very sensitive and need time and nurturing so that they can heal properly.

Q: Rather than buy tensile steel rods to reinforce concrete I wonder whether I can effectively recycle scaffold tubes that are presently on my roof.: You can, but I can think of two reasons why it might be unwise. Firstly, reinforcing bars are ribbed to provide a key between the concrete and the steel, whereas scaffolding bars are much smoother. This leads me to believe that scaffolding bars, weight for weight, wouldn't be as effective as reinforcement bars and you wouldn't have as much reinforcing action as you think. In extremis, you could end up with an under-reinforced concrete beam which will be brittle - reinforced concrete is usually deliberately slightly over-reinforced so that the behaviour close to failure is ductile, as it gives you time to run away. Secondly, scaffolding bars are hollow and reinforcement bars are solid. In reinforced concrete, the alkalinity of the cement paste helps to protect the reinforcement from corrosion - the reason for specifying a minimum cover - but the inside of your scaffolding bars would not benefit from this and so I'd worry about the risk of shortened life due to rusting from the inner face. At least when reinforcement bars rust they tends to spall the concrete cover off, which you see happening.
