- If you use a physical keyboard and select that as the default input device in the Android settings (it's very easy to do) then no, the virtual keyboard will not pop up when you start typing. Since you're using a hard keyboard, I'm also going to mention that you can use a hard mouse as well and a cursor will appear on the screen that you can use. Using a mouse is a lot easier than reaching out to the screen when you're using a hard keyboard.

- It's busted. The keys you tap on share a common sheet membrane with contacts meeting whenever you press a key. The symptoms your keyboard exhibits happens when the membranes are grounded or fused together which occasionally happens whenever fluid is spilled into it. You can give yourself a lot of trouble by opening it up and trying to repair it yourself. Or you can go out and get a new one for a few dollars. If you love your busted keyboard so much you can try and find a computer shop with people who deal with such problems. But It's likely they'll give you the same advice, buy a new one.
