- Q:According to the Vancouver Sun interview with Gavin;Q: What is the future for waterfront cities like Vancouver?A: You are going to have to put up with rising sea levels; they are not going to go down. But there’s a huge difference between a foot or two over 100 years and a metre or two metres. There’s a lot of waterfront development going on but is it sea-level-rise smart? I don’t know that it is. So don’t put stuff in the basement, have all your electrical equipment on the second floor or on the roof.
- In general you should put your electrical equipment above ground level if doing so is convenient. There is little utility in putting it in the basement except that it is out of the way. The wisdom of this is especially true in areas that are flood prone; global sea level rise and other climate change phenomena will affect what areas are prone to floods.
- Q:Do you find batteries die faster than they should, light bulbs flicker or go out too quickly, electrical equipment does werid stuff or dies sooner than it should. I've had some weird experiences with the computer and one small printer ar work. Also, I had a period where remote controled TV's would go on by themselves. I don't have that problem now, though.
- I can't wear a watch with battery, or carry a cell phone on my person. The battery dies if I do! I can't even use a blue tooth ear peace for the same reason. I have a really big battery on my cell phone now so I can talk for about 1/2 hour before I have to plug it in. I don't think this problem has ANYTHING to do with my Religion (Wicca) and I have never shown any Physic ability.
- Q:I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS that is stock, as in no aftermarket radio/electrical equipment and the fuse for the a/c and cruise. I noticed it popped when I bought the car and each time i put the same size fuse in or a bigger one, it automatically pops. I pulled the dash apart and all of the connections are good so I'm not sure of where to go.
- get the electrical schematic, find the cable's color code pertaining to AC and CC, now star back tracing them from AC- compressor clutch back to fuse box or relay and CC unit and back to same place as AC, to the fuse box or relay, pay extra attention to a cable that is long enough to rub against metal(hanging against), whether its valve cover, chassis, any bracket, engine exhaustor that it got pinched between 2 pieces of plastic and chassis, any bracket and body basically you are looking for a sign of tear and wear on the cables insulation that allows the inner bare wire to touch metal(chassis). look over the net for a Monte Carlo forum you will find a better answer there and to many many other future questions. gl
- Q:Gas turbine technician - electrical, seabee equipment operator, and mineman. Which would be the better job as far as the most interesting, important, and civilian equivalents?
- Which would be the better job as far as the most interesting, important, and civilian equivalents? Gas turbine technician - electrical
- Q:Also, do students studying to become either one of these need to study things like how to program an java and stuff?
- I am studying Mechatronic it's a mix of both. You need C for sure as an electrical engineer.
- Q:I dont understand how charged particles in the sky would effect the electrical system down here.
- It wouldn't DESTROY the grid, it would trip the circuit. Imagine adding an incredible charge into any circuit what happens to the current? The resistence? The most notable example of this is the event in Quebec in March of 1989.
- Q:i have to identify whether it is civil or criminal or both and which specific area of law involved adn discuss the key issues which are likely to be raised in court - Amanda had bought and renovated a large house which was converted into student flats, because she was running short of money during the conversion, Amanda decided to buy some second-hand gas heaters which she serviced and installed herself, despite not being qualified to do so. unfortunately, one of the heaters malfunctioned, allowing poisonous fumes into on of the flats. One of the students, Boyd was killed. His girlfriend, Celia was made seriously ill and had to spend weeks in hospital.
- It's both It would have been criminally against the law for Amanda to repair those heaters herself if she was not licensed. The family of Boyd and Celia could sue Amanda in civil court for emotional distress.
- Q:I was wondering, if everyone on earth was to disappear and there was no one to work the electrical grid, how long would it take for 1] The electrical power lines themselves to decay?2] The electrical substations to break down?3] The transformer units to break down?4] Any other electrical equipment to break [such as those boxes on the power lines, as well as ANY other piece of equipment on the electric grid]?P.S- Don't give how long it would take for the power stations to stop running, I already know that. Just answer the four questions I asked.
- The lines are mostly copper or aluminum for the wires themselves. The towers are steel. They would last for decades easily. But lines that run from transformers to homes or neighborhoods could fail earlier. Look at what happens with ice storms in New England. Substations and transformers would last quite long also. But the power stations would last for anywhere from hours to weeks, depending on the degree of automation, and on chance. .
- Q:HI I need to know if anyone knows the MN electrical code for how many can lights I am allowed on one circuit using 14-2 with 15amp. also I would like to put some in my soffit outside, any type of can required for this? Thanks.
- There is not a set limit on how many lights per circuit. Lights don't use much power but I always keep the number under 10. There are can lights made for outdoor use and you must use that type.
- Q:Downstairs 4 outlets and 4 of the lights stopped working. One of the outlets that doesn't work has the top plugin socket working but the bottom one doesn't. Also 2 lights still work even though they are in rooms where the sockets don't work. At the time we did have two computers running from the outlets and maybe some other electrical stuff. When the electrical went out we heard electrical sparking sounds. Then like a couple months later it happened again but upstairs. The lights and outlets stopped working in 2 bedrooms and the bathroom. I don't think we had very much electrical equipment plugged in just maybe a hair straightener. If I reset the breaker the switch will move to where its supposed to be but nothing happens. How much money should I have on hand for the electrician approximately? $200? $1000?
- Could be a few things bad outlets or loose neutral. I recommend getting an electrician to fix it .Most will give a free estimate
