Both melodic death metal, so it still counts within the umbrella term death metal, right? I like them both because they're a bit different to the normal death metal bands; while still being incredibly heavy, I really enjoy the increased melody to their music, which I find awesome to listen to. I also quite like the variation in In Flames music in that Anders Fridén sometimes breaks into clean vocals, which is a striking difference to most of the death metal genre. On an unrelated note, I got to see Dark Tranquility live a few weeks ago at Rock City in Nottingham, UK. Were pretty awesome.
