Q: My dad layed tiles in his kitchen recently. He had some plywood type stuff that he layed them on top of so they are on a flat, even surface. But then someone told him he should have put a netting type stuff underneith the tiles too, to keep them from breaking. Is that very important, will his floor be ruined now?
Its called wire mesh. Its not used as much anymore. What makes tiles or grout crack is the wood below the tiles. If the floor joists are too far apart and the plywood is not thick enough it can cause the floor to move. Even a little bit of movement can cause the tiles and the grout to crack. The wire mesh will not help if the floor moves.
Q: I know he does art with rubiks cubes but I just want to know the type of tiles he uses for his street art and where i might be able to buy some.

Q: I need tips on how to install tiles around bathroom walls. I have the walls up and taped. Now what??? I leveled and drew a line under the window cell horizontal and vertical. 1) Do I start tiling from the tub up?2) How do I seal - or do I have to seal the tiles (Ceramic tiles 4x4)?3) What type of sealer should I use? Please give me a name that I can easily find @HD or loews.
My very strong opinion on this matter is to go to Lowe's or HD during a weekday morning, when they're not too busy. Get a handy-dandy little book so you have it with you as you go. Ask the cute lil helper at the store to help you with all you will need. Yes, you will need to seal the grout - they can find the best sealer, the best grout, the whole nine yards. Good luck on your project
Q: I need to tile a kitchen back splash from counter to cabinets. Backerboard at the moment is drywall, textured and painted. I‘d like to hear some opinions on tiling directly over this or using cement backer board. Also thinset or mastic?
You can tile directly over the splash area the way it is. You should use a good quality multi-purpose thinset with most products. You can probably get away with mastic if you use light-weight wall tile, but you get a better installation using multi-purpose thinset with the majority of products out there today (stone, glass, metal, porcelain, large-bodied tiles, etc.). Be sure to caulk where the tile meets the countertops and where it meets wood.
Q: I‘m installing a kitchen back splash of 1 x 1 glass tile. Right now there is drywall where the tile will be. I‘ve read that it is better to use cement backing board as a substrate. Is this really necessary or can I just use thin-set to mount the tile directly to the drywall and then grout as usual? Thanks for your help!
Hello Samsonite, I would have to disagree with using mastic. If you were using something that had a good absorption rate it's be different, but glass is so dense it'd take forever for the mastic to set up. Most manufacturers of glass tiles recommend using highly modified thinset (Customs Building Product's Megaflex at HD or TEC's Superflex at a tile supplier). I have found the Superflex to have the most brilliant white color when cured, providing the best background for your colors to shine. Drywall will be fine. You may want to key in the mortar you choose by flat troweling it on the drywall before combing your notches. This helps to ensure 100% coverage. Q: Classification of tiles?
les according to the process is divided into: glazed tiles, quintana brick, polished tiles, tiles, ceramic tiles. 1, polished tiles: polished tiles is the surface of the whole body brick body polished / polished from a kind of bright brick, is a kind of quintana brick. The surface of the polished tiles is much cleaner than the quintiles. Polished tiles are hard and wearable and are suitable for use in most interior spaces except for toilets and kitchens. In the use of infiltration technology on the basis of polished tiles can make a variety of imitation stone, imitation wood effect. Polished tiles easy to dirty, non-slip performance is not very good. 2, tiles: This is a high temperature firing ceramic tile, is the hardest of all the tiles. The tiles are more demanding than the polished tiles. Requires a better press, can suppress a higher density, the firing temperature is higher, to achieve full porcelain. The tiles are reinforced polished tiles. The surface does not need to be polished. Can be more resistant to dirt. Polished tiles and tiles are relatively beautiful, high wear resistance, generally used in the living room.
Q: 80 cm x 80 cm tiles a piece of weight is probably how many kilograms?
Now the brick is much lighter than before. Now a good brand than the ordinary soil cast factory thick, a good brand of a box of about 3 is about 100 pounds, is about 33 pounds each piece.
Q: what is vitrified tiles
Tiles with a glazed surface, just like white bathroom tiles. vitrifiy - convert into glass/like substance.
Q: What are the pros and cons for using porcelain tiles or ceramic tiles?
Tile terminology could be complicated. maximum varieties of tiles that are created from clay or a mix of clay and different components, then kiln-fired, are seen to be a factor of the better type observed as “Ceramic Tiles”. those tiles could be chop up into 2 communities, porcelain tiles and non-porcelain tiles. those non-porcelain tiles are often observed as ceramic tiles by ability of themselves, break away porcelain tiles.for further information bypass to the link that's given under
