I'm curious because if it's a battery pack, wouldn't the charger charge each individual battery cell up to its peak voltage, therefore not needing a 24 volt charger?

- Q: I put my Cannon BP-808 battery on my cannon vixia hf11 HD camcorder, plug in my factory given charger to the camera, and charge it. It flashes as if its charging but when I turn it on, it's completely dead. I also have charged it on a seperate cannon hf11, and used three different chargers, so its not the camera or the chargers. - If it's not the battery pack, make sure the charger is not causing any problems, I would check and clean all the metal connection, and those small copper sides of the charger where the battery connects to.Do the same for the battery holder in your camera and and clean that spot all the way. If it's not the battery pack nor the charger, there got to be something wrong with the camera itself. Take it to geek squad in best buy or call the manufacturer warranty service if it's still under warranty cover. Hope it helps!

- You can try zapping the battery packs with a welder per the referenced URL. I've never done that personally but I've had quite good success zapping individual Ni-Cd batteries with an auto battery charger and it's worth a try. You definitely need a higher current and/or voltage source to successfully zap a battery pack with its array of series and parallel connected cells. If that doesn't work, if you're handy you can try rebuilding the battery pack by disassembling it and testing/replacing the bad individual Ni-Cd sub-C cells. There are several good sources online for detailed info on how to do that. I also happen to own a DeWalt cordless drill with 2 battery packs that are slowly going bad and that's what I plan to do when they finally fail. Replacement battery packs are ridiculously overpriced and are only a last resort. Good luck!

- It's Canon. A cannon is a type of gun. Take your camera along with you to a store which specialises in bags/backpacks etc. Find one you like. Check it fits in the store.
