- Q: Im 33 weeks and doc told me to start taking an iron pill. I asked him which one to take and he said at this point it doesnt matter. so I went to the pharmacy and got iron supplement ferrous gluconate. They had like 4 different kinds of iron pills. Im wondering if this is ok for me to take. Even though he did say it didnt matter which one I got, how doesnt it matter??? - I was told to take ferrous gluconate because at 32 weeks I was told I was anemic. All iron is the same, and does the same thing (help circulation and form red blood cells). Even though your prenatals have iron, you won't overdose by taking extra iron(especially if your doctor told you to take more). The only thing that may happen is constipation, but that can be fixed by increasing your fiber intake. EDIT : My doctor initially told me to take 2 iron pills which has 300mg of iron each.

- Flat irons can burn your hair, so use some heat protector, I use Tressemee and it's great!! You can use it for blow driers too to stop it drying out your hair. It you want hair moisturisers, use serums and deep conditioners. I use tressemee and sunsilk because they work amazing!

- Iron supplements can be dangerous to anyone, babies especially. Most foods these days, as well as homo milk are iron fortified. Are you giving her solid foods? Most baby formulas are iron fortified as well. If you're giving her real food, try to make sure she eats a lot of green foods and meat.

- Menstrual blood is high in iron content and iron deficency anaemia is very common. Foods with iron include pasta and green vegetables. A healthy diet provides enough iron for most people. I'm 15 (and I don't eat meat) and I'm slightly anaemic. It's not dangerous but it is something that is important to stay on top of. I take an iron supplement and vitamin C which aids in iron absorption. BTW if you think you may have an iron deficency you want to see your doctor. I learned it from results from a blood test. I feel fine. Please Don't assume you are anaemic and take iron on your own because iron is toxic at high doses and the symptoms of anaemia are also symptoms of other conditions.
