Q: Do they get melted down with the paper particles or is there someone that removes the plastic parts? Just curious.
technically you should remove them before you put them in the recycling but i suppose there must be a load of people who have to sort through it all and remove them all by hand as you can't recycle paper and plastic together
Q: I am looking for the plastic parts / clips that attach the glass pane to the cables of my car's window regulator. I can't find them individually. Specifically, I need them for Audi, BMW or Volkswagen (VW). Thanks
Window Regulator Clips
Q: Every fall we put plastic on the outside of our windows to provide added insulation during the winter. The plastice we use is said to be clear but isnt. It always ends up that we cant see out the windows all winter. It really sucks. Does anyone know of an insulating plastic that is trully clear and will allow us to actually see out the windows?
Use pure clear garbage bags and double sided tape on the inside of the windows, only cut out the center part of the bag or sheet, and tape the loose part down what it will look like is a picture frame, leaving you your window to look out but smaller. The part that leaks around a window is the frame and where the glass meets the frame,
Q: ...even when washing it? And I live in San Diego, not like in TX where the cling probably would bake into the window. But the windows are tinted, so it would have to be on the outside. The cling is about 6quot; in diameter.
I would think it may stick, but it would probably fall off due to the bumpiness of driving, plus when you wash it, it will make it fall off. If your windows are tinted, I wouldn't even mess with it because it may cause a discoloration, but I am not positive. I hope this helps you some! Btw, I love window clings too! :)
Q: I am talking about the stuff you tape to the inside of your home windows and use a hair dryer to stretch it tight. It is supposed to keep single pane windows better at keeping in the heat. I live where it gets 30 degrees at night and 40-50 during the day in winter. Does anyone have experience with these products? Which type works best? Mainly, does it really keep heat in? OR does it keep sunlight heat out and balance out to zero help?
It worked great for me. Let the sun in and kept the draft out.
Q: I want to tag my boyfriends car, but is there an easy way to get the chalk off the plastic or will it stain it?
It may or may not stain it. But the chalk will scratch it. So its not a good idea...................md
Q: Do they still make them. Like the ones we used to have in the 70's and 80's. Or is it an outdated concept? If yes, where can I find them or how can I make one? The pole has to be about 8 feet long. thanks! : )
Do you mean like the ones where you pull them down and they unroll, and then to open them back up you pull down slightly and push them back up? I have those and I got them at the Home Depot. You can special order them in whatever size you want. And, they're fairly inexpensive. I have them on two picture windows with a southwest exposure, one about 6 feet long and the other about 7 feet long. I also have 2-inch horizontal mini blinds on those windows. But, the blinds are so long and heavy that they don't completely close all the way. So, I had to install the roll-up blinds behind them. And, they work great.
Q: It is a clean tear- about 2 inches. I was wondering if there is anything I can use to glue it back together, or if a mechanic/garage would be able to fix it?
you can try glueing it back together with super glue or somthing, but other than that, you will need a new window. Do you car what it looks like? the glue wont hold forever
Q: well i have a 1992 alfa romeo spider and some idiots sliced the back of the convertible on my plastic window. i was wondering how much it would cost if i send it to a shop and they sew off the old plastic window and sew back on a new plastic window
they can do it --they have to remove the top-remove the stitching from old window and remove window-sew in window- replace top on car--this is NOT cheap but still cheaper than new top=--look for about 400 buck charge--shop all the auto upholstery shops in your area first--talk to your friends -talk to people in auto industry that have used any shops--you are naturally looking for someone that can do the job and do it efficiently and correctly- and at the lowest price==most shops operate on the cheap, good, fast idea--you can have any 2 of these statements--cheap and good not fast--you get the idea
Q: does tapeing plastic over windows help very much in winter?
The plastic can help but I think it is a pain. I am a fan of seal an d peel caulk. You use it to seal anywhere where air can seep through. On a double hung window, this would be around the perimeter and where the two windows meet. When the winter season is over, you just peel it off. I would also install storm windows if you don't already have them. They aren't too expensive and they aren't too difficult to install. You can probably find a YouTube video or two to show you how.
