Q: I know that NiMH batteries self-discharge over time, but mine are discharging in just a matter of hours. I am using them in a RC airplane. They are 9.6V 650mah AAA packs. I charge them up just as they should be and they put out full power when I test them in my plane. I go to the gym for a couple hours and stop by the flying field on the way home, but when I plug the battery in the motor on the airplane immediately goes to cut-off.An interesting note: If I hold the arming button down to keep the motor going, eventually it will work itself up to putting out enough power to do some low powered flight and will last the duration over normal flight time for the airplane
The battery pack is new to you, but it could have been on the shelf in the store or a warehouse for a very long time, easily a couple of years. A single bad cell can ruin a battery pack. 1) One of the cells might have gone bad and can't hold much charge, so it depletes quickly during discharge. The available battery voltage then is 9.6 - 1.2 8.4 volts. As current flows through the bad cell the current reverse-charges the cell, and the available voltage drops to 8.4 - 1.2 7.2 volts. 2) When a motor starts it requires a high current, and this drops the voltage out of the battery due to the internal resistance of the battery. If one cell is bad then the internal resistance is very high. Once the motor is running the required current is less, so the internal resistance of the battery is less, and the battery is able to maintain an adequate voltage. Factories do not test the cells to match their discharge cycles. This can happen to any battery. Car batteries, sealed lead-acid batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, lithium batteries. extra : This is a huge problem for any large power-storage system, from solar-cell systems to hospitals and server farms. They use large battery banks to give them ride-over time until they can get their gasoline/diesel/natgas generators running. Monitoring each cell in a battery requires special electronics and in the past was not worth the trouble due to the cost. There are now electronic designs that will do this monitoring, but it's not going to be done for cheap RC battery packs.
Q: I just bought a Canon 50D, and i've heard from many people on how long the first charge should be. I'm confused but do not want to try and end up spoiling the battery. Can somebody advise how long should the battery be charged for the first time?I've heard people telling me 2hrs is enough but some tell me its too short and you'll undercharge the battery.Others say you have to charge for at least 12 hours. Will this overcharge the battery and shorten its lifespan? Please help me!
Just charge it fully. The charger will let you know when it's done by giving you a green light. If it's a genuine Canon charger it will not overcharge the battery, no matter how long you leave it in.
Q: How do I calculate the number of UPS delay battery packs?
0.5KVA UPS is back-up, no external battery. The smallest on-line is 1K, no 0.5K.
Q: I am trying to build my own battery pack to fit my needs for me and my robot. And I was wondering if their are any good tutorials, books or websites out their on this topic. Thank you.
It depends on the required voltage and power needs. Different batteries have different voltages (difference of potential between the + and - terminals) and Amp-hour (total potential hours of operation at one Amp of current) ratings. If you need a power source that isn't currently available for sale, try stringing together many of the same type of battery (same voltage and Amp-hour rating), connected in series. If this is a store-bought robot, I have to assume it came with a battery pack, probably a series of rechargeable AAs in a heat-shrunk package. If you made the robot yourself, you need to know the required voltages for each of its subcomponents and may have to have multiple power supplies. Or just find the nearest Radio Shack.
Q: For some reason the battery works with a separate red controller i bought, but not with the one that came with the xbox. when i try to connect it, the green around the logo just spins and wont locate as player one. does anyone know if the controller that came with the xbox is compatible with the battery pack? what do u recommend i do?
You Have tried syncing it right
Q: i got a camera about a month ago.i charged it till the green light went on and than it says to change the battery pack!!!! what does it mean??!!!!! what should i do??!!!
Cannon Cameras Suck, i have own 3 already believe me i know what i am saying. I got me a Kodak and never had an issue.
Q: Hi, don't know if people can help me with this or not but I need some advice. Is it worth it to buy Microsoft genuine rechargable battery pack or a generic (unknown name) which has extremely high MaH?I have seen some battery packs on OKorder which have 3200MaH, I believe that is double the capacity of the Microsoft packs?Anyone have any advice. Thanks in advance
For me is better to buy the play and charge kit. because you get in the package you get a rechargable battery and when it goes out just plug in the play and charge kit and it will charge it while you keep playing and then when it goes out do the same thing. The battery holds a lot of charge it lets you play for about eight hours straight
Q: I have a Cannon 7D with a battery pack attachment. I have a large bag that fits my camera with a lens on, 3 other lenses, and most of my other accessories but it is big and heavy. For casual shooting I'd like something smaller to fit only my camera with the battery pack and one lens but I can't seem to find one that will fit the camera with the battery pack attchment. Anyone have a good one or know where I can can find one?
Your best bet is a bag store not a camera shop. There are specialized bag stores out there (in the mall?) that cater to people carrying gadgets. The bags will be more stylish (not all-black as in camera shops) and others offer more comfort for carrying heavy gadgets (large laptops and huge dSLRs). I'm not from where you are so my suggestions would be mute. We mostly have Chinese imports and local brand names that change faster than the pages of a calendar but we do have those type of stores and if third-world has it then so must you.
Q: CameraSony a390. Out of the box. Should I start taking pictures immediately using its battery pack, or it should be charged first, and how long?
Take your charger with you, buy a second battery and charge that too, or shoot until you run out of power and call it a night. DSLRs can't be charged through USB.
Q: How do rechargeable batteries work? I need to write a paragraph on them, so it can be brief information I've searched google and couldn't find much
well, when the battery is deadyou plug in the charger and put the batteries in and the electricity goes from the outlet to the batteries and can be re-used. Oh yes and the battery must be rechargeable in the first place.
