- Q: My model rocket's (currently being built) body tube has a slight issue.First, this is how im making it.Taking a plastic tube, I wrap a piece of construction paper around it, and glue it. (not to the tube, but to itself so I can slide out the tube, and have a cylindrical paper mold.) Next, I take a special type of paper with water-activated adhesive on one side, and wrap it around the construction paper. However, now that everythings dry, I find that upon gluing the construction paper, I also glued it to the tube. Now the plastic tube is stuck within. How can I get it out without tearing my outer shell?Im guessing with heat/cold, but Im not sure.
- To save what you have so far, slit the tube you glued up and peel it off, clean the plastic tube. Then re-glue your paper tube with white glue using wax paper over the plastic tube. Then add another layer or two of the water activated paper. You can cut the paper into 3 inch wide strips then spiral it around the tube. It will be much stronger. Make your tube longer then you need because the ends will be rough and you will want to cut them off. Let it dry for a few days so it will stiff-in up. If it is not strong enough add more layers.
- Q: how strong is a plastic tubing for a refrigerator line?
- It's pretty strong. It must endure water pressure that near 100 PSI, and it also must be able to stand up under the stress of compression fittings.
- Q: How do plastic tubes compare to fiberglass tubes in terms of strength?
- Plastic tubes are generally less strong than fiberglass tubes. Fiberglass tubes offer superior strength due to the reinforcement of fiberglass strands within the material, making them more resistant to bending, cracking, and breaking.
- Q: How do you transport plastic tubes?
- Plastic tubes can be easily transported by packaging them securely in boxes or crates, using appropriate cushioning materials to prevent damage during transit.
- Q: I don't mind cutting the wire but I want to make sure hampster won't get hurt the bubble tube can't be pushed off by her.
- yes use zip ties, they come in all colors and are very strong and nontoxic
- Q: Are plastic tubes safe for storing cosmetics?
- Yes, plastic tubes are generally considered safe for storing cosmetics. They are commonly used in the industry due to their durability, flexibility, and ability to protect the product from contamination. However, it is important to ensure that the plastic used is of high quality and free from harmful chemicals such as BPA. Additionally, it is advisable to check the compatibility of the plastic with specific cosmetic formulas to prevent any potential reactions or degradation of the product.
- Q: The water dispenser tube on the outside front has a hard yellow substance on the end of the tube. I don't know what it is or how to get the tube out to clean it.
- Sounds like sulphur. You must have sulphur in your water. Scrap it off and expect to have to do it again. Good luck I believe the GE models the tube is foamed in place not changable by itself. The entire door would have to be changed out. very expenssive. Try a small bottle type brush to clear it. Good luck
- Q: Do plastic tubes have any limitations in terms of gas permeability?
- Yes, plastic tubes do have limitations in terms of gas permeability. While some types of plastic tubes are designed to be gas impermeable, many common plastics used for tubes, such as polyethylene or PVC, can allow certain gases to permeate through them over time. The rate of gas permeability varies depending on the type of plastic and the specific gas involved. Therefore, it is important to consider the intended use and the type of gas being transported when choosing plastic tubes.
- Q: Rescue fish, currently in temporay home 20 gal 70' filtered oxygenated tank until I can get another tommorow. But he looks stressed, I think he needs a place to hide for the night, and the PVC I have at the moment is too light to sink. I found the plastic in the basement of the older home we live in, good size for him, but I am worried that plastic of an uncertain age might give off some kind of toxin/poison. Can anybody help? Suggestions for alternatives welcome...
- That's the old ABS plastic. It's not used much anymore because of problems with building codes. It's no more toxic than PVC. until a house fire starts it to burn. Stay away from old joints with cement, sterilize as you would with any other ornament and you'll be fine. You can also still buy it new.
- Q: Me and my brother were bored one day and we decided to go to camping (on private property not owned by us). So of course the cops were called and they had to come and tell us to leave. So the cop walked with us back and when we got there it was a K9 unit. I had a test tube full of marijuana on me. The window was rolled down where the dog was at and I was about 10 feet away from it. It didn't bark, it didn't do anything. Do you think it could have smelled it through the plastic test tube I was carrying?
- Yes, they can smell it through almost anything. Usually they smell the trace amount on the outside of the tube.
