- Q: Are plastic tubes resistant to extreme temperature fluctuations?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be resistant to extreme temperature fluctuations depending on the specific type of plastic used. Some plastics, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE), have good resistance to temperature changes and can withstand both high and low temperatures without significant damage or deformation. However, it is important to consider the intended application and consult the manufacturer's specifications to ensure that the chosen plastic tube is suitable for the desired temperature range.
- Q: Plastic tubing is touching compressor (or close to it) and gets hot and brittle. I recoupled a bad spot 1 year ago and it is leaking again. I would like to replace the tubing from the back of the refrig (solenoid) to the water filter. Any ideas on what material to use? I would like to use copper line thru the bottom of the refrig if not all the way to the water filter, but don't know how to connect it to the solenoid. Also would pex (1/4 OD) line be a better (albeit more expensive) choice for this?
- You can replace the line with copper. If the connection point is metal you'll want to use a brass compression nut (brass) with a (brass) compression sleeve (know as a ferrules) if the connection point is plastic you'll want to use a nylon compression fitting. The metal ferrules one wont work as you would need to crank the you know what out out it to make it seal, and run the risk of stripping the plastic threads. The nylon takes less torque to seal if that makes sense as its a more dense material. You should be able to get all the parts from a local hardware store or big box store such as lowes or homedepot.
- Q: Can plastic tubes be used for automotive applications?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be used for automotive applications. They are commonly employed in various automotive systems such as fuel and coolant hoses, air intake systems, and brake lines. Plastic tubes offer advantages like corrosion resistance, lightweight, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness, making them a suitable choice for many automotive applications.
- Q: Are plastic tubes resistant to impact from freezing temperatures?
- Yes, plastic tubes are generally resistant to impact from freezing temperatures.
- Q: Are plastic tubes resistant to extreme temperatures?
- Yes, plastic tubes are generally resistant to extreme temperatures.
- Q: Are plastic tubes resistant to pressure?
- Yes, plastic tubes are generally resistant to pressure as they are designed to withstand the forces exerted on them. However, the level of pressure they can withstand may vary depending on the type and quality of the plastic used in their manufacturing.
- Q: underwater does air move faster thru metal or plastic tubing?
- it's exactly the same. unless the plastic tubing is under pressure by the water. if it's the same size tube, it won't matter.
- Q: What are the problems to be overcome in the development of plastic pipe industry?
- The influencing factors are basically positive, because the plastic pipe is relatively fast, light and long in use with respect to the cast iron pipe, so the plastic pipe is basically the main pipe for the future construction of the project.
- Q: Pex Tubing
- Pex requires special fittings and a special tool to expand the tubing for it to be used
- Q: How are plastic tubes sealed for long-term storage?
- Plastic tubes are typically sealed for long-term storage using various methods such as heat sealing, adhesive sealing, or using specialized caps or closures. These techniques ensure a secure and airtight seal, protecting the contents of the tubes from external factors like moisture, dust, or contaminants, thereby preserving them for extended periods.
