Q:The Power cable of my guitar amp (roland cube 20x) was under my computer chair leg and when i sat down the fuse triped in the power box then when i checked under me the cable was almost cut across.. How can i fix this or where would i get it fixed?: It would work But it is a good idea to have separate cables using each one for a specific job. Buy a cable for each job. Label it near the plug for the amp. That way you are always using exactly the same set up every time. When things go wrong and they will, you wil know which cable and which amp or guitar is having the problem. I have been on stage when it took 10 minutes to find that the wrong instrument had accidentally been plugged into the wrong amp or pedal.

Q:My Xbox 360's power supply cord is very loosely connected. I've tried to push it with force, didn't go further. Games lag a bit (GTA IV, for example) at graphically expensive situations. Simplier games like Limbo and Worms run without any problems. Q:I bought a new amp and sub to replace my old ones. I disconnected the battery, unplugged the old amp and plugged the new one in and when I reconnected my battery the power cable began to smoke at all the exposed ends and got very hot. What causes this? Is it because the new amp requires more current than the old one and that is causing it to get very hot? And what is the solution to my problem?Thanks: you are creating a short circuit with the battery if this is happening while the amp is not on. disconnect all wires and make sure your positive lead goes to only positive terminal /amp input. then do the same for the ground. if you dont have a fuse protecting the wire it will get so hot it will melt the insulation and start a fire. if this is happening only when the amp is on and your system is pulling a large current through it (music real loud) then you need to upgrade your wires asap. make sure you have a fuse protecting the power wire close to the battery and a fuse whenever you downgrade in size of wire. a $1 fuse with the correct rating for the wire its protecting will safe your *** if you short circuit.

Its too sophisticated. A single GTX 295 requires a 700-watt PSU with a 50 Amp 12v rail. Insane power consumption going on here. Upgradable to quad-SLI (woo). If you can afford a GTX why can't you afford the PSU? A PSU regulates your power and protects your equipment from voltage spikes etc. Get the PSU. Whats wrong with your 4850? can your board support a x-fire setup (two 4850s linked?) That'd be cheaper in the long run.

Q:im upgrading amps from 200 to 1000 and i was wondering if the cables will restrict the current at all? right now i have a 225 watt cord set: The first consideration is how much power can your speakers handle without self destructing? My opinion is that few can productively handle more than a couple of hundred, and that would be for very brief peaks. The average listening level in a domestic situation is on the order of a few watts - 10 or less. If you really have speakers that can handle that amount of power, and you want to deliver it efficiently, then you need to keep the 2-way resistance of the wires from the amps to the speakers at less than 10% of the speaker impedance. So for 4 ohm speakers (worst case) you want the line resistance to be below 0.4 ohms. For a 50 ft (100 ft 2-way) cable run, that suggests 16 AWG minimum wire gauge for each speaker. Your existing RCA cables should be OK assuming they only carry low level signals. If your present power service and grounding are on a 15 or 20 Amp branch circuit (US) , and no other heavy appliance loads (refrigerator, washer, airconditioner) are on that branch, then it is OK for the new amps.
