- Q: Winter is coming and after one attempt of hanging curtains, in which they slowy fell down one by one due to crappy walls...I need nelp. I need to know what kind of brackets or anything I can use to hang curtains. you can put a nail or screw through the wall with little to no effort. any ideas?
- You can fasten a narrow strip of wood on the wall across the top of the window. Make it a little longer than the window's width and make sure you fasten the wood to studs. You can then fasten the curtain brackets to the strip of wood. A 1x2 is a good size as it is thick enough to hold a nail or screws. Screws actually work better than nails. The wood can be painted the same as the wall or left alone if you use a valance with your curtains or drapes. This makes a very sturdy way to hang curtains and drapes or even blinds on your windows.

- I don't think that is a good idea, but to each her own. Maybe you can get framed art and then drape the framed art. You can also try wall vases and add your choice of dried flowers, pods, curly willow, wheat, etc. to them. There are so many options today. Go to Micheal's or a craft store in your area. - Well, it will all depend on how you do it... I have seen some good wall curtains and some pretty bad ones! But if you find a thick, heavy fabric you like, and buy a staple gun, I think you could cover that wall quite easily without having to 'drape' the fabric and with minimum damage to the wood... just stretch it like a canvas. Draped fabric on an entire wall can get really busy; plus, it will collect dust like you have never seen before.

- pretty much in all states the laws are that you have to give the apartment back in the same condition as you received it........so you can paint but then you have to paint it back to its present color which most of the time is Navajo white. Ask the landlord if you can get a small can of the paint so if you nick or ding the walls you can touch it up.........take that to the paint store and have them match it so that you have it when your ready to paint. Then paint one wall a different color and then pull that color into the room with pillows and art work on the opposite walls

This is a great opportunity to add texture to the room as well. I personally would add a green to the mix, but that's a personal choice.

- Hi Steve-O North Wall I would paint Blue. Benjamin Moore has a couple of great colors. Van Courtland Blue HC - 145 or Philipsburg HC - 159 both colors will match your current decor of carpeting, furnishings, etc. Van Courtland blue is a lighter shade grey blue and Philipsburg is a shade deeper but also a Grey Blue mix. Both of these colors will work visually very well with the more modern look as you have described. Paint always seem to dry a shade darker so keep this in mind when you are making your choice. Window Treatments: Grey or Taupe ( a tan-ish grey ) is a good color for window treatments. Choose a plain fabric slide rod top style panel for the finished look that stays within the guideline of your Modern decor theme. You may want to consider adding a third color by adding accent pillows ( 3 is a good number of pillows ) Placed on the couch of either colors of Red or Orange, or Yellow. This adds just a touch of warmth to your apt.
- Q: Like I said, my walls are a gold color (lions mane), red scarlet leather sofa and love seat, and medium brown colored coffee table and end tables. I hear that white curtains would make the walls look somewhat washed out, and red curtains will overpower the yellow walls due to their being too much red in the room. Any suggestions?
- brown curtains might look nice and they'd also be room darkening! i'd also consider looking for patterned ones that incorporate two or more of the room colors! you should NOT do gold ones. maybe you wanna do red curtains and a brown valance? what color is the floor? maybe match that? cream or butter could be options also-hard to say since i am having trouble visualizing teh wall color exactly..... hope i was helpful!
