Q:I'm working on a crochet scarf for a Christmas present and I would like to place a patch on itThe patch is about 3quot; across and roundIt's a Jack Skellington patch, just the faceI've never put a patch on yarn crafts before so I'm not sure how to even beginShould I get an iron-on or a stitch only patch? How do I prepare the scarf for the patching and if I need a stitch only patch, how should I go about sewing it?
You shouldn't use an iron on patch, it won't work as it does on fabric, and ironing will cause the yarn to 'melt.' Sew the patch on by hand, using a blanket stitch, and with heavy duty thread (like hand-quilting thread) or with DMC embroidery thread (the kind used for cross-stitching)You can use an iron-on if the picture on it doesn't come in a stitch-on one; just sew it on the same way
Q:they changed my food at the hospital and just said high fiber
This is great newsAll these great memories are starting to come back of me and friends playing Gold Silver together, trading Pokemon and talking about the show :PReally makes me happy, even though I stopped playing Pokemon I'm definitely going to pick this up anywayMaybe even bothI had Silver version because Lugia is kick Oh and there was Crystal version too which I also had! If they were to remake that too I'd be even happier.
Q:is it that it has a nearly perfect thermal blanket?especially given that its days are about a year long, wouldn't you expect a huge difference in temperature?
Venus has temperatures that are fairly uniform across the entire planetThis is because the planet has very little axial tilt compared to the Sun (only 3°).
Q:I've been using a Conair $30 hair straightener for about 3 months, and i've noticed that my hair has thinned outIs this because of the straightener that i use or something else? i'm 14Should i invest in a more expensive one? What brand would you suggest?
As Arjan suggests Define good and protection It also depends on what type of magnets you haveCeramics, in general, have characteristics that are very good for some applications and that are bad for other applicationsSame is true for plastics/polymers and paints and metal coatings, etc.
Q:I live in Alaska and want to knit a blanket, but the winters are dry here and I don't want to knit something that will be itchy or have a lot of static! Any suggestions as to brand/type/material for the most comfortable blankets?? Thank you!
Acrylic yarn would be your best bet for a blanket that will take a beating and tons of washing cyclesThe draw back with acrylic yarn is that it doesn't hold heat well, but when it does hold heat, you'll get very sticky and sweatyAcrylic yarn doesn't wick away moisture like plant or animal fibers would, because acrylic is plasticWool yarns would be good to keep warm durning the winter months but the drawback with wool is that is not easily washable and can be itchyNot to mention expensive, better quality wool yarns are expensive and you can't find them at JoAnn's, Michael's or your local craft store If I had a choice I would use a yarn with a mixture of bothYou'll get the warmth with wool and the durability of an acrylic yarnLion Brand makes a yarn called Wool EaseIt's a blend of both fibers, it feels wonderful and is easily cared forIt comes in a wide varitey of colors from pastels, to bright colors, to dark jewel tonesAlso, this yarn comes in different yarn weights, DK - for smaller stitches, worsted - for medium stitches, and bulky - larger stitchesYou'll have tons of optionsHappy Knitting! PS: Lion Brand also has some really cool blanket patterns too on their website.
Q:My cat has intestinal issues and sensitive tummy since she hit 12yrs old, she has constant diarrheaThe vet said to put her on a very high fiber food and she take a steroid pill pretazone every other day.Suggestions on what food to feed her to help her little butt and tummy that wont cost tons? I am on tight budget due to being single parent and in school full time.
This method is simple but does require a few tires to get it rightI use it make small Circuit boardsStart with the metalUse a green scurby with a cleanser like commentScrub the metal with even strokes in one direction then again a 90 degree angle to the firstThe idea is make little X(s)in the metal as you polish itYou should wear gloves as the oil from your hands will not helpRinse well and scrub again with just water and dry the metal so no water film can formUsing a Laser printer and photo paper print your imageYou may want to mirror the image before you print as the finial product will be a mirror of the printUse basic staples brand paper, the cheap stuff works best (red boxI'll add a link)use a household iron set around 225-250 degreesPlace the print, image side down against the metalYou'll want to a have a hard flat surface that can take a lot of heat and a lot of pressureLike a workbenchNEVER SLIDE THE IRON.NEVER LET THE IMAGE MOVEStart at one of the corners to seal the image inplaceWork the whole area by lifting and pressingHow much force to use is hard to sayWhat needs to happen is that the plastic on the photo paper needs to melt while you press down and plastic sticks to the metal leaving the ink Sandwiched betweenLET THE METAL COOL Soak the the whole thing in hot (maybe 150) water for well you'll see after some time the paper will begin to come free from the plasticSome SOFT rubbing will helpA soft toothbrush helps in tiny areasIron on transfer paper doesn't work as well as the cheap staples paperGood Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Feel the back of her neck and the top of her headPreferably with your lips or wrist (more heat sensitive)If she's her normal temp then she's warm enough, if she's cool she's cold, if she's warm she's warmMany babies get cold hands and feet, sometimes even when overheated67-70 is a perfectly normal house tempEvery baby is different, what is enough clothes for one isn't enough for anotherShe may need a hat, or gloves, or a sweater, or a grow bagMy first was always too hot, he needed one less layer than I did and never a blanketMy second couldn't keep warm the first weeks and had to sleep on my chest with my both of us naked on the chest (usually him wearing an undone undershirt and pants, sometimes a sweater, and couple of warm blankets on us).
