Once they are gone, a good raking to remove leaves and dead grass using a lawn rake, bag them up and get rid of them. Tidy up the bricks and any loose items you want to keep and stack behind the shed if possible. Once all the yard is clean, look at any high or low spots, get a few bags of topsoil from Home Depot ( $1.29 a bag) , some grass seed, and a small bag of starter fertilizer. The cost should be under $50 for everything. Use the soil in low spots, and then sprinkle the grass seed and starter wherever there is a bald spot and in the new topsoil. Water lightly but often, the idea is to wash the oily covering off the seed, but not wash the seed away. Keep it moist for a week and you will have new grass growing. Follow the directions on the seed package for proper lawn care once up.

Q: I got heaps of these really small black flies that are breeding in my home. They look just like a black ant (same size, black, thin, long) but then when you look up close they have 2 wings on them. Q: I need to have my vegetable garden watered while on vacation for about 5 days. I have looked on the internet and found people were using plastic bottles or jugs by filling a bottle with water and putting a needle size hole in the cap then sticking them into the ground a few inches down next to the plant. I've tried that, the water ran slow or it ran fast, like in one day the water was gone. I tried putting a needle hole in the bottom of the bottle and the water leaked out faster. I would ask someone to water my plants, but everyone will be gone that weekend. Got any other tips? Am I doing it the wrong way or what? It would give the government greater power to regulate the food industry. Hopefully this would eliminate problems with salmonella in peanut butter. The vote is supposed to be this evening. Because people who advocate for local food as opposed to corporate food are concerned that it might put small farms out of business, an agreement has been reached that the Tester amendment will be included in the bill. The amendment will then have to be included in the House bill, which passed in July. The Tester amendment will exempt farms that sell directly to consumers, retail stores, and restaurants within their state or within 275 miles (whichever is smaller) and make less than $500,000 a year from regulation. Sustainable food advocates support this amendment. It was supposed to be voted on this evening, but I still can't find that this has yet occurred. From my point of view it is essential that the Tester amendment be included. (Jon Tester is a Senator from Montana who is sponsoring the amendment.) The bill without the Tester amendment would not make it illegal to grow your own food, but it would subject you to many regulations if you wanted to sell it at a farmer's market, perhaps making it impossible for you to do so.

Q: Do you think this house is one of those modular homes with an addition?: It's okorder , one of the advertised features is a 'master bath with a garden tub'. That's a dead give away for a modular. The ONLY properties I have ever seen with this 'feature' are modulars.

I live at the edge of a small patch of forest in Washington state, in the northwestern portion of the U.S. In the summer, there are enormous numbers of blackberries on their vines. There are many wild plants and wild flowers; there is also a great deal of moss on the trees because it is VERY wet here most of the time. The trees include elms, birches, firs, and apple trees. There are many bird and animal species that live in the forested area, including coyotes, deer, foxes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, and chipmunks; so far I have recorded twenty species of birds, including chickadees, woodpeckers and sapsuckers, towhees, juncos, several kinds of sparrows, warblers, Steller's Jays, hummingbirds, and even a Merlin! I consider myself very fortunate to be so close to such a lovely area, even though the forested area is relatively small.
