- Q:I spoke to a tile guy recently and he told me that only cement board is acceptable for use in bathrooms. He said that green board is not. Why do the sell the greenboard if you cannot use it in bathrooms or areas that will take moisture?
- Green board is fine..You must have been talking to him for an estimate, of trying to get prices fromhim..cement board is more expensive to hang, and in my view point easier to do when all said and done, for it can be hung easily with one person..I know it weighs more, but it is a compact size, so manuevering it is alot easier..He was stroking you for that Home labotomy Kit he always wanted, but could not afford!
- Q:The Now building materials business to do it, including what aspects?
- Building materials are commonly used in civil engineering and construction materials. Can be divided into structural materials, decorative materials and some special materials. Structural materials include wood, bamboo, stone, cement, concrete, metal, brick, ceramic, glass, engineering plastics, composite materials, etc .; decorative materials, including a variety of coatings, paint, coating, veneer, colored tiles, with special effects Glass, etc .; special materials that used for waterproof, moisture, corrosion, fire, fire, noise, insulation, insulation, sealing and so on. Now building materials business is not good to do.
- Q:I cant figure out what consistency to mix this cement at. I am pouring it for a shower but need to know how much water to add. I would REALLY like an exact calculation, like 20 parts cement to 1 part water for example. Anybody know? Thank you! Again, this is for a shower......
- For a shower I would mix at 5 to 1. Five sand ,one cement. Make it wet enough that it comes out of the mixer by it's own without you having to dig it out. It can be fairly wet but not sloppy.
- Q:We had great hopes for a beautiful cement floor and ripped out all of our carpet only to find untreated cement covered with paint, spray paint, marker, plaster, cracks, and small gouges all over it. What can we do to our cement floor to make it beautiful?
- You can resurface the floor. Then you can stain the concrete and get a really nice finish. But be warned, while you can do this yourself, it will not look near as good as a job done by a professional. Plus if you do the job right, it would be much cheaper to replace the carpet or even install wood flooring. I have a brother in law who owns a company that does this. He has a hard time finding people who are good at dong this. When he trains new hires himself, it takes him about 2 years to fully train them. Out of curiosity, I asked him how much to do this in my laundry room. (I asked after I had just installed new tile, which is what I wanted in the first place) he estimated that to clean, resurface and do a good quality stain job would be about $3,500 for one color. The pattern staining I wanted would have run over $5,000. The laundry room is about 9.5' x 12'. The tile floor I did myself cost me about $300 in tools and another $350 in materials. It took me 4 evenings and a Saturday to do it all. And I did a fairly fancy job! Stained cement floor in a house look great and can add value to the right house. Painted floors generally look poor and do not wear well, along with devalue a piece of property. The material they make for garages is great, but doesn’t look right n the house. (I actually have it in my garage.) My advice-decide what you want and take the time to save up and do the job right. You will be glade you did.
- Q:While it was temporary cemented and good fitting, I was capable eating on it, but an extra temporary cement made my gum to reseed, so the dentist had to add an extra ceramic layer at the marginal site to cover the root, but then my bite changed and also, since then I've been experiencing pressure pain on the corrected tooth. It is not because of inflamed pulp, neither it is the gum, so is it possible that the bridge is not fitting properly now and is this correctable now?
- It sounds like you have a lot going on there, and it was a little bit difficult to follow; but hopefully I can answer your question. Once a bridge is cemented, it can't be removed without destroying it. I'm not saying it's impossible, or has never been done, but in most cases if the bridge needs to be removed, a new one would need to be made. That said, it can't really be modified (fit or structure wise) while it is in your mouth. I know you said that you didn't have a pulpal problem, but if you do end up needing a root canal, that can be done through the bridge. On the other hand, it the bridge isn't fitting right, maybe it should just be redone.
- Q:hi i know how cement is made. my main question is when do we use cement entirely? for instance, concrete is used to make roads etc. similarly, in constructing a 10 floor building, do we concrete in all the 10 floors or is concrete used only in foundation and pilings/pillars etc? is cement used only as a smoothing agent or as binding agent in making brick walls etc.thx
- you use concreted to cover a person in.. You use cement to make shoes for a person out of tide boxes then you throw them in the water...
- Q:i just cleaned the room in my house that's been rejected by every family member because of the carpet. i think it used to be white...anyway, i took a peek under the carpet to see if there was wood or cement under it.it was cement.now i need some VERY detailed instructions for preparing the cement so that the tiles will stick to it without getting air bubbles stuck under them.
- Check with a home improvement center. They should be able to help you. Roxanne
- Q:I have a crown that keeps coming loose and the dental cement does not seem to keep it attached. My husband seems to think I should try to super glue it back on. I think he is sniffing the super glue. What do you think?
- step away from the super glue...Probably the reason your crown keeps coming off is becuase there is decay on the tooth you need to get to the dentist and see what is going on with it. If there isn't any decay then they can just cement it back on and you should be good to go but you do need to go and get it checked. Good Luck
- Q:much does 1 cubic foot of portland cement weight in water?
- portland cement has a density of 1506 kg/m? 1 ft? = 0.0283 m? that is dry cement, not setup. You didn't specify if it is dry or setup. mass = 1506 kg/m? x 0.0283 m? = 42.6 kg The displaced water weighs: density of water at 20C = 0.998 g/cm? = 998 kg/m? 998 kg/m? x 0.0283 m? = 28.2 kg subtracting, we get 42.6–28.2 = 14.4 kg, or 31.7 lbs. .
- Q:and yes i have asked that, does any whitening strips or anything break down the cement
- I had a permanent retainer for almost ten years. The retainer itself had come out and all that I had left was the cement. I went to my dentist and within five minutes it was gone. Very simple. But nothing else works. Sorry, but go see your dentist.
