Introduction:

Aluminium foil is aluminium prepared in thin metal leaves with a thickness less than 0.2 millimetres (8 mils); thinner gauges down to 6 micrometres (0.24 mil) are also commonly used. The foil is pliable, and can be readily bent or wrapped around objects.Thin foils are fragile and are sometimes laminated to other materials such as plastics or paper to make them more useful. Aluminium foil supplanted tin foil in the mid 20th century.
Some aluminium foil products can be recycled at around 5% of the original energy cost, although many aluminium laminates are not recycled due to difficulties in separating the components and low yield of aluminium metal.

Q: No insulation was installed under roof of my 2 story home. Im not rich but looking for info on installing about 450 ft. up there.
Based on the geography you are put up insulation rates would differ, I would suggest initially you just call Insulation contractors who offer free home energy audits and ask them to give their estimate , based on the rates you choose one which suits your budget. Usually type of insulation you choose determines your rate, so do a little homework on it
Q: were can i buy material to insulate pans and instructions to install it? I have seen many roofs with this done ,but , the lowe,s and home depots don't have .
I think your problem is in the way you are asking the question. I for one do not know what you mean by a metal pan roof. I know all about steel roofs or corrugated roofs and a lot of other roofs but what is a metal pan?
Q: Like how does it get put in your roof?I am doing this energy efficient house.Other Questions:What is an Eave?Whats the roof on top of a patio called? What does orientation mean? What are the good things about French doors?
It can be blown in or more often it comes in large bagged bales and you cut and dump in the attic. The eaves are the portion of the roof that overhangs/extends past the wall. It's usually called a patio cover Orientation is how the home (or other structure) is positioned on the lot. They let in lots of light and are very attractive.
Q: Does snow on the roof help or hurt my heating bill?
To building professionals, it means you are properly insulated. It does help a bit, in that without it, you'd be exposed to cold winds, which are worse in removing heat from the house. Typically, we like to see (and count on) some snow in how we design houses and size the structural elements of the house & roof. If you are talking over about 3', though, we might be getting nervous about the weight. Each city/area requires that we deal with normal snow loads of that area. But 3' deep means there's about 180 pounds per sq foot of weight on your roof. About that point, I get up there and remove most of it (I leave about 12" thick). Still same on the thermal characteristics but safer on structural. .
Q: p/t deck on a commercial rubber roof do we need closed cell insulation under deck to protect rubber?
there is any kind of belongings you ought to use to guard your EPDM roof. From extreme density insulation boards to top adjustable helps all reckoning on your roof length, shape and water run off falls.in case you have an activity in looking out greater pop over to our on line shop.
Q: My new room is an addition to a mobile home, and has a single-layer metal roof. I have 3 "main" concerns. What are the cheapest and/or most effective ways of eliminating them?1. No heat insulation- cold air sinks from the roof to my room, and my warm air rises to the roof and cools.2. Condensation forms on the inside and drips occasionally. My computer, bike, and downhill boards are in here!3. It seems like bugs could easily get into my room, but that's just a suspicion.
welcome to the wonderful world of cheap, temporary roofing. you've just described a metal roof perfectly. bob, tell em what he's won! a lifetime supply of more bad decisions! also, the ugliest roof in town! but best of all, everyone who drives by his home will know he's a bandwagon kind of guy, he doesn't educate himself and do what's wise, he does what everyone else is doing! can't wait till that crowd finds that cliff they've been lookin for!!!
Q: on a traditional pitched roof construction, where is heat insulation usually provided?
Generally, the insulation is blown in loose fiberglass to around 14 inches -- R 38, between the ceiling joists. Radiant barrier roof decking is often used in conjunction with this method, along with excellent attic ventilation to allow heat to escape. Sometimes, with foam insulation in new construction, the foam is installed between rafters, to create air conditioned attic. This is much more expensive, but if done right, can result in greatly lowered energy consumption. This method requires outside air having a way to get into the home, requires special AC and heat equipment, and if the wall insulation and window package aren't up to snuff, much of the effect is lost, resulting in wasted money -- tens of thousands of dollars, literally.
Q: does insulation, with a high R value, in the attic prolong the life of the shingles on the roof.
No. Ventilation prolongs the life of a roof. Ventilation also reduces the air conditioning bill by a huge amount. If you use a lot of AC, also add an automatic attic fan. As for insulation, the idea is to have a good R factor, relative to where you live, directly above the highest living space ceiling in the house
Q: Tax Question: Itemized receipt for roofing and insulation?
The insulation is a tax deduction. Call the contractor and ask for an itemized reciept for tax purposes.
Q: We have plenty down at the center, so many, you can carpet a garden. So, since I'll have to tear down the roof and improve the insulation in a few months, I was thinking of adding one extra layer... of emergency blankets. Since they can reflect the sun's heat up, and the heat under it down, will they do that for a whole house? Will the plastic film cause water condensation? If you wouldn't recommend it, then what would you recommend?
They may help, but as thin as they are, installing them would be about as easy as putting socks on a rooster!
