Who do I need to contact to get a speed bump placed on our street?: Reflective paint is a type of paint which contains thousands of little glass spheres, designed to reflect lots of light, even at night. It is most frequently used for signs on highways, but is also used on license plates, fishing lures, on mobile objects to be tracked (like a golf ball), or as an indicator on certain machinery. The size of glass beads ranges from application to application, but generally, the smaller the bead, the more expensive it is. The beads are sprayed on after paint is applied for the most even possible distribution. The beads are applied over a colored base coat designed to yield maximum reflectivity. A commercially available variety of reflective beads is 3M's Scotchlite product. The typical glass beads used in reflective paint on highways are fairly cheap, about $5/lb. They are usually mixed with yellow latex paint. This paint is designed to be clearly visible when illuminated by headlights, but is often visible even without headlights due to ambient light. During the day the paint is bright, but not bright enough to be excessively distracting or blinding. Reflective paint is very useful because materials which glow independently, without constantly needing to be recharged, are expensive and radioactive. The salt used on the roads in the winter will rot your bike. You will also learn that motorcycles suck in the snow. Only an inch of snow can make riding treacherous. Hitting slush can also be dangerous. You will also quickly learn that motorcycle tires do not have the grip in the cold than they have in the summer. The compound used to make motorcycle tires is designed for warm weather riding. You will need to slow down in the corners accordingly. Even the dirt bike tires you seek will have this problem. The salt will make the roads wet. Cars will send up lots of spray. The only difference is that the salt that was used to melt the snow and ice will be mixed in with this spray. Forget about keeping your face shield or glasses clean enough to see. Same thing goes if you install a windshield. In no time, it will be covered in salt. You will need to pull over every few miles to clean this off. There is another reason to hate salt. When the roads are salted, the snow will turn to slush. This slush will pull your bike all over the place. It will be next to impossible to maintain control. There is a very good possibility that you will go down. If you hit ice, especially in a corner, you're going down. Black ice is real bad. You don't even see it and next thing you know you are taking a slide down the pavement. Intersections, especially on side streets will be especially treacherous. Spinning tires from cars polish the snow into very slippery ice. Anti lock brakes also do a nice job of polishing the snow into ice. Stopping and starting on Side Street intersections will be a challenge. Dirt bike tires will be no help at all on ice. The winter cold sucks on a motorcycle also. At 65 MPH 10F feels like -19F. At 65 MPH 0F feels like -34F. Hypothermia is a real possibility. Q: my family and i are going to china this summer, and so we're getting off at hong kong. however, my dad heard something about anyone entering is required to be quarantined for 3 days i think. is this true or not? i'm worried(: Bed wetting is more of a learned response when the body has matured. Many kids from 3 to teenage years wet the bed and have the need to wear protection at night (diapers). Our doctor explained to us that as the child grows, the bladder sometimes does not grow as fast which is called an immature bladder. It's a stage where kids go through to where the sensory to wake the child is not there due to the immature bladder hence the child wets the bed because the bladder will empty. This stage typically happens after a child has been potty trained. Plus as children grow the heavier sleepers the become which doesn't help. It is not something you can train a child for at night. My son is 5 and I still put him in disposable diapers every night because of bed wetting. I would diaper at night until he can get out of the bed wetting stage. Our doctor said with kids being this young it will not effect their self esteem by diapering them and it lets everyone get a restful nights sleep.
