Q:What is a restraint joint in pipes?: As long as you clean the inside of the fittings, the outside of the pipe ends, apply flux liberally, and heat the fitting till the solder flows into the crack, you'll have a good water proof joint. If it needs to be handled soon after installation then you can cool it with a wet towel, otherwise it doesn't hurt it to just set and cool by itself. Solder should be lead free and solid, not acid core.
