How does solar light works?
Solar light uses solar panel with photovoltaic effect principle to receive solar radiation during the day, then converted into electrical energy, after that store in batteries by charge-discharge controller, while at night when the illumination gradually reduced to about 10LUX, the open circuit voltage of solar panels reaches the set value, after the discharge controller detects the voltage value then action, the battery discharge current to the lamp, solar light; when the battery is discharged to the set value, battery stops discharge, the solar light turned off. Or the next day when the illumination is higher than about 10LUX, charge and discharge controller action, the battery discharge suspended, solar panel starts battery charging.

- If your talking about a FW tank with no plants it technically doesn't need a light unless you keep it in a dark basement. The light from the room is enough for fish. You will probably want a cheap hood type light so you can see your fish, though. If you want plants then your best bet is to talk to your local fish store. You will probably be buying your plants and lights there so they should no which go together. I have low light plants in a shallow tank so I use a hood light with a plant bulb.

- lights off...but candles lit. but be careful...we don't want a fire...might ruin the moment. Candles lit...or just a dim light because it's more flattering than a bright light. - Magenta = blue plus red. If only green light is shone on a magenta surfce no light is reflected. So it appears black / invisible. Red = reflects red only. In green light red objects appear black. Green in cyan: cyan is green plus blue. So there is green light to be reflected, so the green object appears green, its natural colour. Cyan reflects green and blue, if available. Magenta light is red and blue mixed. So only the blue light will be reflected and the object will appear blue. Red in magenta = red. Red and blue shone in. Blue absorbed, red reflected. Blue in green = dark / black. Nothing available to reflect, so black. If you get the chance: try this using coloured lights / filiters. The 'wrong' colour items really do vanish from view!

- Unless you are growing live plants, you have no need for a light. And yes, a light can heat up a tank. Always use florescent bulbs with a fish tank. These are cool bulbs that will not alter temperature. Incandescent lights, on the other hand, will heat up a tank considerably. No fish will enjoy the temperature fluctuations from an incandescent bulb. Plus, you save power using florescent.
