- I would have to say yes. Mostly laptops are not that much high end when it comes to gaming. Average users have laptops that cant run games like Generals or Most Wanted. So, I would think friendly would mean that the game would support modes that could run on lower end graphic controllers. And no it's never DANGEROUS to run a game on your laptop. If your laptop's not up to it, the game wont simply run ;-)

- Dell and Acer are probably the best ones. HP is up there too. If you're a gamer (and don't care much about customer service) Alienware is a good choice, but they are a little overpriced. I generally don't listen to random customer reviews because they are always too biased and not always truthful. I go off what I've personally experienced before I make a decision. And no, I didn't forget about Macs. They blow. I'll never own one.

- Do not take it to Geek Squad. they will either screw it up worse or just send it back to HP. Search in your area for a shop that can do laptop repairs. Most area have one or two such places nearby. Ask them to examine the laptop and give you an estimate on the repair costs. I have the same model and it's over two-and-a-half years old, so if the repairs are significant, it might cost you too much to even bother. Then you should consider a new laptop. You might have to pay a small fee for the diagnosis and estimate. You could also send it back to HP, but you'll wind up paying for whatever they do.
