- Q:We got an Engineered wood floor installed after a month it started to get soft then made popping sounds as I walked over it. The floor was sealed for moisture then a recommended glue was used to put it down, as the floor was being laid, weights were put on the floor for several days to allow the glue to stick, but alas it started to pop. can anyway one explain this, as I now have to re-drill the floor and inject glue to re glue it. any one have nay suggestions or explanations? - Thats what you have to do.. I ran into this several years ago. The floor is uneven just a bit and to get the engineered wood to set into the glue it should be weighted down. It didn t get set into the glue properly were its popping.. Thats the dried glue rubbing on the wood. They should ve filled or sanded the floor as needed to make it flat.. I assume this is a slab, since you don t say. If not going from below and drilling through the wood subfloor is a better option.. They also make a special drill bit that will save the plug so you can reuse it to make the plug hole less noticeable by matching up the grain when you reinstall it.. - i would advise you not to use it in your basement if there is ANY composite materials in it. they say you can use it in damp areas but wood fibers+water=mold, so, even if it is 100% wood, i personally wouldn't do it. no matter how dry the basement appear there is always moisture and/or the potenial for moisture. on bamboo itself, is a great product and it is hard to go wrong with it. Thomas Edison built a concrete swimming pool in Fort Meyers, Fla. with bamboo as the reinforcement about 90 years ago. it is in like new condition today.
