- Q: if you are caught growing vegetables or canning vegetables in your own home, you'll be thrown in prison?
- The House of Representative bill HR 875 can be found by doing a search at: thomas.loc / And in part says: H.R.875 Title: To establish the Food Safety Administration within the Department of Health and Human Services to protect the public health by preventing food-borne illness, ensuring the safety of food, improving research on contaminants leading to food-borne illness, and improving security of food from intentional contamination, and for other purposes. BUT, given that the Obamas have started a White House garden project of their own, chances of enforcement of this (even if it becomes a law) are slim to none. How many garden cops would they have to hire to search peoples yards for illegal vegetables? ======================================...
- Q: We are remodeling our kitchen, and we liked a kitchen we saw in a Better Homes and Gardens magazine. My wife tore out the page, page Z4 from January 2007 issue. I got this issue out of the library, but no page Z4 (z as in zebra) (Better by Design - Comfort comes to the kitchen article). It must have been some supplement. Does anyone have this issue with this page? We are desperate for the kitchen specs from this article, which they often print at the end of the magazine. Please let me know if you have it, or have an idea what magazine it is really in...thanks!
- Go to their home page and click on customer service in the upper right hand corner. Perhaps they will e-mail or fax that page. Or perhaps they have back issues for sale.

- Q: What is the best way to get rid of moles in the yard/garden? I live in central Ky.?
- get the big pack of juicy fruit gum the yellow package, take each stick out of wrappers, then rollup into a ball, take a stick or rod and poke a hole every foot or so in the moles run, then put a piece of unchewed juicy fruit gum in each hole, may take a couple of times but it works, moles can not digest gum and swell up and die!government spent millions of dollars to find something that if kids got a hold of would not hurt them!
- Q: i am considering buying a barratts home and want to know if the garden will be laid to lawn or if i have to pay extra

- Charleston, SC Beautiful houses from the 1850-1900 era - Civil War... Architecture, gardens... Will get you dreaming of the past -
- Q: Will it be safe to eat the stuff we are going to grow? It seems weird to me. We are doing a veggie/fruit garden over my mom's house and she wants to put quot;organic fertilizerquot; (POOP!) in the dirt. What is the proper way to do this? This is the first time I've grown anything so any tips would be helpful! Thanks!
- Animal fertilizer is wonderful and farmers have been using it for years. We always put the manure from the horse and cow barns where it would do the most good. It is very mild compared to chemical fertilizer and rarely burns the crops. My mother's fig bushes always produce the most abundant crops and the flowers around the house love it. In some countries they use human fertilizer, but I think I would draw the line at this. We never had a commercial chicken house but that fertilizer works well, but is stronger than cow or horse. When I buy fertilizer I get the chemical because I get more for the money and I don't over fertilize. Use the manure if you like, it won't hurt anything. Good luck.
- Q: If you have a home garden, and you grow more than what you can use, what do you do with the extra? Do you give it to friends and family or do you give it to those in need by way of food pantries at churches or a food bank? Do you give it to homeless shelters? Or do you just let it rot and throw it away?
- mostly you cannot give fresh fruit and/or vegetables to any kind of food bank or shelter as they only accept canned and non-perishable items so that they can save them and give them away when needed; therefore, anyone with a garden surplus would likely be unable to donate it, unless a shelter took it and used it right away.
