- Q: hi i started a tile job yesterday. i was supposed to pull up the old linoleum tile and put new linoleum yile. the only problem was that the ols tile had been put over older tile without being pulled up. so i chipped away a little at a time and it just seemed like it took a long long time. i have blisters all over my right fingers and hand. i still have a big patch to finish tonight, and if anyone knows how to get this stuff up faster please let me know, thank you
- try a small torch,we used it to get tiles warm it seems to melt glue some. Just be careful gets hot fast.
- Q: Do they resist stains, scratches/nicks and does it protect it from fading and making it easier to clean? The tiles will be going in my kitchen and pantry. Are unglazed tiles, ideal for high-traffic areas?
- for a kitchen, a glazed tile might be too slick, so be careful what type of glazed surface you choose. steer clear of any tile that has a mirror finish. if you can see your face in the glaze at a certain angle, its not suitable for a kitchen! when it gets wet it will be too slippery. a glazed tile can be easier to clean than an unglazed tile. depending on the type of glazed tile, scratches can be a problem. unglazed tiles can have a rougher surface, which helps in the slip factor, but might be tougher to clean. go to your local tile distributor and look around. ask the sales rep; tell them where the tiles are going to be installed. they can give you some good ideas. consider a porcelain tile. they can be smooth as well as textured, generally are easy to clean, and VERY durable for high traffic areas. i've never seen any type of tile fade, so i can't help you out there. most tiles won't suck in staining liquids, like grape juice, etc, so unless you chose a marble or natural stone, i wouldn't worry about that. good luck!
- Q: Is there any one who have knowledge about Ceremic tiles? plz suggest me.
- What okorder / We have professional tile fixers, tile distributors, technical advisors and more, to answer whatever questions you might have.
- Q: are tiles get really dirty fast and i tried everything and i cant get them to stay white could i use bleach?
- If they're a natural rock, like travertine, use Tilex and scrub them with a stiff plastic bristled brush. Use a cloth with hot water and a mild detergent to take up the excess Tilex. Then put down a tile sealer after it's dried. This will keep them from getting dirty again so fast. If they're ceramic and have hard water stains or whatever on them, you can use Tilex for the grout and CLR on the surface. Put a moist cloth down and pour the CLR over it to let it soak for about 15 minutes. The hard water stains should soften and come up easily. BTW - if this is a mildew problem (like in a shower or around a bath tub), don't use bleach. For some reason, even though it kills the mildew initially, it actually fosters the return of the mildew quickly.
- Q: Is polished tiles and tiles a thing?
- Polished tiles are a kind of tiles. Tiles include, polished tiles, glazed tiles, tiles, antique tiles and so on. Polished tiles, then I suggest doing surface protection treatment (generally not recommended waxing), because the polished brick pores are relatively thick, it is easy to dirty. Details can visit our website.
- Q: i had a pipe leak into my bedroom and now everything is torn apart so i am remodeling my room and i cant decide between wood or tile flooring. my dad said wood because it looks good and because our living room and theater room is tile and if my bedroom is tile it wouldnt make any sense. my mom says i should get tile because if my grandma spills her drink or eat in my room it wont ruin the tile and its easy to clean up but if wood it could be ruined with scratch marks or circle stain on the wood from the cup or drink she spills. so now i dont know which one to choose. also i would like to paint my room blue and wonder if you guys have any suggestions on the shade colors of blue any website or image of the shade color would be nice if i could view them. thank you in advance!
- Tile is very nice if you live in a warm climate like Florida. In cooler areas, it can sometimes feel cold in the wintertime. As to ease of cleaning, I find my tile floors are actually harder to keep up than the wood laminate because the grout gets dirty looking and is a lot of work to clean. I protect my wood laminate floors twice a year with a product made for the purpose and they are quite resistant to spills and scrapes. If you go for wood laminate, however, be aware that there is some cheap imported laminate on the market that will not stand up at all well. Buy at least 9 mm and preferably 12 mm laminate made in US, Canada or Europe. You'll find a rich wood tone in your bedroom gives you a warmer feeling in winter, yet feels comfortable in winter.
- Q: I was wondering about space between tile when laying tile floor. I have seen online and in person tile floors(don‘t know marble or porcelain or what) where it is completely flat and smooth and the tiles appear butted together. I prefer this look as opposed to the typical tile floor with grout lines that are shallower than the tops of the tile. I was wondering how to get this flat look when every where I have read online says you cannot or at least should not butt tiles together. I hope I described what im looking for accurately and am hoping to get some options. Again I am looking for a flat smooth surface nothing with the dips or recesses of the grout lines. how is that done??
- === you do not say if you want to try to lay those tiles or have a pro do the job == many floors have no grout lines and the whole complete total answer is to float the floor smooth and then lay the tiles on that float after it dries and you have a bit of
- Q: dont know how much to charge to install tile backsplash on kitchen wall with 100sq/ft, please let me know am new and started in this business??
- It depends on whether you have experience installing tile backsplash. It will take you a lot longer than the professional. It also depends on how it is laid and if it is all one color and cuts and miters. It's not as easy as one thinks. It's where you start and plan to finish that is very important. The counter top at the back where it meets the cabinet must be level. If you haven't done this before then hire someone to assist you and go on line to get some information before you start. If you give the information to a tile dealer, he can tell you about how long it will take for the job. Decide what you need to charge an hour and add a couple of hours for clean-up or to for longer time. Jo Ann
- Q: this tile i‘m buying is pei 5 and breaking point of 450 lbs. 24x24 inch. at a $1.60 sq/ft. is this a good tile?
- pei refers to the slip resistance of the tile . Thats the highest rating buttttt, most all porcelains are rated this high. 5 rates the tile at a commercial usage which will take heavy foot traffic The tinsel strength is just average. So overall its not a bad tile. The absolute most important thing is the proper setting technique. Not setting it properly and over the correct sub floor , it doesn t matter what you get. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
- Q: I rent but we have cracked a couple of white kitchen counter tiles. Is there a quikfix alternative to replacing them? We realize the solution would be cosmetic.
- i..just go to your local Lowe's and get your white replace, emt tiles...get a grout chisel and get the grout out and take the cracked tile out...get you premixed tile mortar and put your new tiles back on and re-grout with your same premixed mortar..(it's called premixed mortar and grouta)...whhoollaaah your done.....any flooring specialist can walk you through it if you should have questions..
