Q: Complete DIY newbie here with an outdated bathroom that I want to make a master. The floor is covered in hideous 1x1 tiles. I will replace this tile with some 12x12 or 8x8. Any suggestions on how to get this stuff off?
I have seen an electric paint stripper used very successfully to remove the tiles and the sticky backing, the guy was also using white spirit at the same time to totally remove slight stickiness. It was a total success. These strippers look like hair dryers.
Q: Is to use a little water can be posted on the tiles above things. Other places can also be above the glass can be posted that what is the name?
Water painting is suitable for attaching smooth surfaces and surfaces to tiles, glass, wood, metal, plastic and so on.
Q: What are the tiles?
1, polished turn: the type of brick with clay and stone powder pressed by the press, and then fired from the front and the opposite color, not on the glaze, burned, the surface and then polished, so positive It is very smooth, very beautiful, the back is the original face of the brick. Polished we all know? Such as stone floor and wall, is polished, stone province is not bright, but polished, it looks very bright. Since it is polished, the problem will follow, because the smooth, bright, so it is not dirty, and dragged with a mop, will leave the water mark, because your mop can not be 100% Clean it, like the same glass, so if you want to clean, it is more effort; The second drawback is that polished because of smooth, so it is not slip, that is, once the water on the ground, it is very slippery, which is why we see the building inside the stairs and other shops are not the stone Cast into light, but matt, the only way to non-slip. The third problem is the color of the liquid is easy to penetrate, the simplest test is to take the pen in the brick surface to write a few words, poor polishing turn, immediately wipe after writing, are not necessarily able to clean, writing may have infiltrated Well, good brand, because the press is good, high density, coupled with the firing of the high temperature, the density is very high, so it is not easy to infiltrate, but this is not absolute, no matter how good the polishing, if write the word 10 Minutes and then rub, but also must leave the traces of never wipe, because the ink has been infiltrated into the brick inside.
Q: My bathroom in my new house has the ugliest green tile halfway up the wall and then a different shade of green tile on the floor. My husband I have a little experierience with fixing stuff up, but this one has us puzzled. We want to tear the tile down and put up drywall. Then we‘d like to carpet the floor. We haven‘t got the nerve yet cause we don‘t know what to expect behind those tiles on the wall. Got ANY suggestions in my little dilemma???
If the tiles go all the way around the room, measure up 4' at each corner. Use a chalk line or level to make a horizontal line around the room. All hardware below this line should be removed. Towel bars, heat register covers, cabinets, toilet, door trim, etc. If the wall is drywall, you could cut along this line with a drywall hand saw. If you have access to a sawzall (reciprocating saw), the process will go quick. (If you're handy, you should have this tool). To avoid cutting wires, pipes, pay close attention when cutting. Lay tool against wall in line with chalk line. Start blade, slowly, then lower blade to line. Now tilt blade inward. CAUTION. Go only as deep as needed to penetrate wall. If you go deeper, you risk cutting wires or plumbing. Now pull saw along line around perimiter of room. Safety glasses are recommended during cuttiing and removal. Use hammer to make hole in wall just below cut line. Using Gloves, pull sections of drywall and tile by hand as much as possible. If screws remain in the studs hit with a hammer at a 45% angle. they should break off. If it's nails, you should pull them. Floor tiles will come up with a flat pry bar and a hammer. Just pick a spot along an edge. Use a couple sharp blows with hammer to start, then use flat bar and hammer to peel out floor tile and grout. Hope this motivates you to go for it.
Q: Will the home decoration tiles brand which are better? Can you tell me?
In the brand: Omega, gold medal Asia, Jiada, Jiajun, Chun Shi, Jane, gold Italian pottery, Rome Leo, Europe and the United States, specifically, Vero, beautiful, silver whale, Italy, Diamond, gold rudder, fire east, Hong Tao, gold pottery masters, Monte Carlo, Xinghui, Samit, Shun Hui, the king, Wells, General, Grice,
Q: Which colour of tiles do you think suit white kitchen cabinets??
Anything really I would make a suggestion that you dont use white because if its a floor tile you will spend alot of time keeping them clean... I would suggest something in natural stone or something that looks like natural stone.. its more traditional... but almost any color can go with white its just a matter of your decor and your prefrence another thing is trying to relate your floor to your countertop can help
Q: How do you tile anyway? thank you
I have to have the same thing done. No, I would not put the new over the old! Actually, I know that it is expensive, but it would be best to hire someone that knows what they are doing, do it for you. Worth the money in the long run.
Q: My husband and I just purchased a condo. We want to retile the bathroom in a more modern looking tile or maybe a marble or some kind of fancy tile. We are going to do it ourselves. Where can we find good prices on the tile?
Lowes has great looking tile but is a bit pricier than Home Depot.
Q: Hello! I currently have a 3 season sunroom addition on the back of my home that has been stripped down to the wood. I recently saw a 4 season sunroom that had tile down and needless to say, I fell in love with it! I am thinking about putting tile down in there but am worried about the weather...I live in Minnesota where it gets very cold...and that room is not heated in the winter. Would I have problems with the tile cracking? Or does anyone know of an alternative way to get a tile-looking floor without having to worry the temperature changes??
Hi, In the UK we have a floor covering which is similar to the wood effect laminate floor, it locks together and looks amazingly like 9x9 tiles. I put it in my bathroom and it is not as cold as tiles to the bare feet. It is a wood/paper based product but is waterproof for the normal house hold duty. I assume that the Minnesota winter will not make it too cold. Use a styrefoam underlay 2mm thick to prevent heat loss. this is a do it yourself job if you are handy with a saw, We know it as TILE LOK
Q: Have a tiled half wall that I dont like, and as I neither know how to remove tiles or if how to drill through a tile can anyone help?
Use masonry bits in the drill. Start with a small hole and keep using larger bits to increase the size of the hole rather than trying to drill a big hole from the start. It helps to wet the end of the bit. If the hole has to be in a precise location, put a piece of masking tape up and put a mark on the tape exactly where the hole will be. The tape will help keep the drill bit in the spot where you want the hole, rather than having it skip around as it usually would do on the slick tile surface. Put the drill on a slow speed at first to get the hole started if the drill bit is trying to skip around.
