Q: I have a t-mobile cell phone and since I returned home from vacation Sunday, I have noticed that my phone now says ATT as its service, not 'T-mobile.' What's even more odd is we have far better service now (even though ATT has horrible service in this area- New York's Hudson Valley).Any idea as to why this is may be occurring?: It just means you're connecting to an ATT tower instead of to a T-Mobile one. Sometimes that happens because there's an issue with the T-Mobile tower and your phone can't connect to it. (Like if they're working on it right then or it's just busted, which seems to happen often.) If it's giving you better service, that's awesome, so don't bother to ask T-Mobile to put you back on their towers (tech support can do that I think). Roaming on other towers is included on T-Mobile so it's not going to affect your bill at all.

Q: I have the LG virgin mobile phone (not the new one) and I turned it off to charge and then turned it back on but it only went to the Hello part and started loading up and then it just goes black and back to the Hello and just keeps repeating it! any ideas why??? You can take out the battery and try rebooting it again. You can wait till it just finishes going through its process, and make sure its charging so it wont die. Or you can send it back to virgin mobile for a new one. After it was charging for a day or two, I send my phone back to virgin for a new one.

This info can be shared with the police with a court order. For anything more accurate you need quite sophisticated equipment that can triangulate your position and that is very precise. However, the authorities would need a good reason to do this and it is very expensive. Hence why it is not often used to track missing persons.

Q: I have just received an upgrade from T-Mobile. Whilst I like the phone I want to unlock it so I can put a cheaper SIM in for my trips to Jersey. Only one network on Jersey (UK).The phone is a Samsung U800 which seems to prove hard to unlock??An internet service could not help and Tmobile says it takes 28 days.Does anyone know of a high street shop that could unlock and not charge that much?Cheers: Dont go to the High streets, you are better off going to the small independant shops. they have the software to get it sorted for you and the longest they will take is 24 hours at a cost of 5 - 10 quid
