- Yep, carpet in the bathroom is gross. Vinyl tiles are the answer. Peel and stick if you don't mind them(I do), or ones from Home Depot that stick to themselves but not the floor. Or for really cheap, tear up the carpet and paint the floor. Sheet vinyl is good but unless you have some skill at fitting around corners and fixtures, don't try it.

- Q:I need to replace the floor in my shed. I'm thinking of raising the walls and replacing the floor with the walls raised.Any ideas on how to do this?
- 1. Empty the shed. 2. Disconnect the walls from the floor. 3. Use a floor jack and a 4X4 to jack up one side of the shed. You will need someone to hold the 4X4 vertically with one end on the jack so that the other end can be jacked up to reach a structural part of the roof or a rafter. Jack the side up about 3 inches. 4. Place a 2X6 board under the raised side with the flat sides of the board parallel to the ground and placed so that the board extends about 3 feet beyond the shed on both sides and so that the wall will sit on the 2X6 when you finish step 5. 5. Lift the 2X6 up until it touches the underside of the shed edge. Prop the board up on other boards so that there will be about 2 inches available under the board 6. Repeat steps 3, 4, 5 on the other side of the shed. 7. Continue lifting the same two sides 3 inches at a time until you have the shed sitting on 2X6 boards and the boards on cinder blocks about 8 inches above the ground. Don't lift one side all at once because some sheds are flimsy and would collapse unless you alternate lifting the two opposite walls. 8. Replace the floor. 9. Use the floor jack and the 4X4 to take one side of the shed at a time off the boards and remove the 2X6 boards and cinder blocks. Do the lowering a couple of inches at a time alternating between the two walls that are on the boards. 10. Connect the walls to the floor. 11. Take lots of pictures before, during and after. 12. - Q:Just removed an old lenoleum flooring, ( 50 years), and a Parkay floor. Do they make a floor sander or are there any chemicals that can be used?
- Hand floor scraper is your best bet. The glue from the Parquet will be very hard since these old glues almost crystallizes . Getting the high stuff off and then use a grinder if you need to get it to cement again. VERY dusty though..There are no solvents safe to use in a residential setting that will work . - Floor 1 is also sometimes called the Ground Floor. (The floor above is 2 and so on.) On many elevators they use G instead of a 1. Below the Ground Floor is the Basement. If there is more than one level below ground, they'll be called a different name which ordinarily describes their function, such as Storage Room, Boiler Room, Utility Room, Morgue, Laundry Room, etc. Mathematically, a Negative describes what does not exist. Apply this concept to a building and it's pretty bizarre. -1 Floor would be the floor which does not exist below the Ground Floor. -2 Floor would be the floor that doesn't exist two stories below the ground floor. Working on this logic, all buildings which do not use the basement-naming method, would have an infinite number of negative floors beneath them, that is, if the floors continued through the Earth's core and on out into space. Therefore, the use of Floor Zero is nominal, and could never be a mathematical construct, any more than the wor Ground Level can be a mathematical construct. My building (US) calls the street level floor Ground Level only, and it's never called the First Floor. The 1st Floor is therefore 2 stories above the street, and so on. If it were possible to think of the Basement as -1 Floor, which of course you can't because to think of it in this way would automatically cause it to not exist, but IF.......In the case of my building, the Basement (-1 Floor) actually IS 2 floors distant from the First Floor. - Call the person who did your floors. He likely knows of a real product that you can use to hide the scratch. It will depend on what products he used to finish your floor so don't just try something randomly. It will have to be compatible with what is already on the finished floor. Beyond that, you might consider that scratches are going to happen and get over that first imperfection in your floor with the understanding that it's going to show wear eventually.
