- Resin is used to fill fiberglass repairs, not glue. Epoxy is glue like, but does not adhere (stick) to all materials. Most take a long time to cure. One or another of the above should combine with the resin to dissolve it and remove it from the wood - along with any other finishes. Use chemical resistent gloves. Use very good ventilation. Remove any sources of flame or ignition. Dispose of the waste as hazardous. You might also just remove what you can with a scraper, brush on a hardener to cure the remaining resin (available from any auto-supply store) and then sand and repaint the shelf.
