- Don't get her feet shod at all. Horse shoes are way worse to them then any amount of gravel in their feet. It's like if we walked around in metal shoes all day. If you did, you would know how much it hurts. Your knees, ankles, all the bones and joints in your legs would be sore as heck. That's what horse's feel as well. Add a jump to that, it makes everything ten times worse. If you want to be kind to your horse, don't put any shoes on him.
