- Q: I live in Fl and I was wondering if a winter turnout blanket would be too heavy to blanket my body clipped horse with this winter? Or should I use a summer turnout blanket? If you aren't familiar with FL winters, the nights can reach down to the thirties for a couple weeks in January, other then that the days are never colder the love fifties, usually low sixtiesThanks!

- I work for an Insulation company and the best way is to have loose fill fiberglass insulation blown over top of the old by a contractor ,That way it getis in all the cracks. Also todays code for insulation depending where you live is an R38 about 14 of toal insulation and should run you about 50-65 cents per square foot compared to buying rolls and doing it yourselfat about $1-$2 a square foot
- Q: It's been fuzzing my brain tonightFrom what I've been reading, your body temperature drops significantly when you're falling asleep/fully asleepSome suggest to put a hot-water bottle under your feet when you go to bed because it increases dilation in your blood vessels, thereby radiating more heat and reducing body temperature. So if cooler temperatures are better for sleep, why do we use blankets at night? I don't know about you, but I find it rather difficult to fall asleep without some form of cover.

- Q: What are some mushrooms that are high in fiber but low in digestive carbohydrates?
- Not likely but you'd better be careful what you say on your phone.
- Q: At the moment i'm trying to cut down on calories, so weird diet i've invented involves taking Metamucil (dietry fibre supplement) in the morning, which seems to fill me up, and apparently dietry fibre isn't really digested totally or something, and eating quot;cup of soupsquot;, which usually have between 260-360kj per serve (not sure how many calories this equates to)Plus a healthy meal at nightI'm also drinking heaps of Diet Coke, Fanta etc, because the kj are so low and it seems to fill you up, is there any negative side to this?
- The number of electrons entering the wire is 8/1.6E-19 per secondSuppose that the wire is a meter long; the drift speed can then be calculated from the electron input rate (which we just did) and the electron density (we're about to do it)The volume of the wire is 5E-6 cubic meters; its mass is that times 2.7E6 grams per cubic meterThe 13.5 grams of aluminum represent 13.5/27 moles, or 3.011E23 atoms of the stuff, or that many conduction electronsWe're inserting 5E19 electrons per secondDividing 5E19 by 3E23 gives 1.66E-4 meters per second.
- Q: I have a shed that is built of wood seems well built and it isn't falling apartI want to use it as an extra room for me in the winter when i want to get away from my family for a bitIt is hooked up to the house with an outlet so i have a light and can plug other things insideMy issues are the two doors don't close from the inside and the lock is broke tooHow could i rig it up to close from the inside? I don't know much about fixing up things so that's why i'm askingAlso as i said it's wood with it's own wood floor once i figured a way to close it from the inside with an electric heater inside would that be enough to hang out in and be warm in the winter? should i add anything else to increase insulation? I live in northern Michigan and i plan to use it when i need to be aloneI am hoping being able to close from inside and a heater should be sufficient to make it cozyThanks to all that answer in advance.
- As for the doors, put a lock set on the doors, so you have a door knob on BOTH sides, and a keyed lock for securityYou can put a door closer for a storm door on them so they self close! The pink styrofoam sheets are not bad, but it gets cold where you live!! I live in Ontario, so I get some of the winter weather you do!! I suggest putting in bats of Safe and Sound Roxul insulationIt is fire resistant, and can give you a great R value for insulationJust install strapping across the studs to hold it in, if you aren't going to finish the walls this yearYou can also put a vapor barrier of 6 mil plastic on the walls after you insulateThis will hold the insulation in as well! Next, you need a heat sourceIf you have natural gas, you can get a gas stove, and your gas company will hook it up for youMake sure you place slate or cement boards under the stove, and on the walls directly behind and around the unit When you're not in there, set the stove in 'Warm modeWhen you're in there, Set it to 'HEAT' mode, and keep it set at about 50 degFThis will keep any paint, or liquids from freezing, and help keep the moisture content down, so your furniture ot lumber does not absorb too much moisture Seal any windows with caulking, and around the door framesas well! there you are.nice and cozy in your own personal castle of tranquility and peace.at least until the wife needs you for something, then.well.you know!!
- Q: Please, answers should pertain to a metal building meeting the following specifications:30'W X 40'L X 16'HNO INSULATIONlittle or no shadepainted with white paintBuilding is located in east Texas, a hot humid area. So, what is the best combination for reducing interior temps on hot days:(1)turbine roof ventilators and ceiling fans(2)turbine roof ventilators and exhaust fan mounted in the wall(3)regular roof vents and exhaust fan mounted in the wall(4)regular roof vents and ceiling fansIf you can think of another combination THAT DOESN'T INVOLVE AIR CONDITIONING OR INSULATION, please shareThanks:-)
- 5) Move to Michigan? KiddingDefinitely an exhaust fan mounted in the wall as a starting point Moving the air is the first trick, and without some monster turbine roof ventilators (Think Gramma's Attic in July) you'll still be baking 14' below them.
