Also, do those water heater blankets really work in keeping the heater warm and saving energy? I'm thinking of buying oneAnd when winter comes along, should I rise my water heater temperature? - Q: How do you secure buttons (with regular sewing thread) to an article of knitted or crocheted clothing? How do you secure thread to yarn? Is there another way to do it?
- The correct thread to sew on buttons to knitting or crochet is with the same yarn that is is made fromIf the yarn is very thick you can split the strands lengthways and use part of itApparently you will lose points when you show your work if you use sewing thread to sew on buttonsI just stitch the button on the same way that you would sew buttons on fabric but leave a long thread at the beginningWhen I have finished I simply sew the ends into the back of the article so that they cannot be seenI rarely lose buttons with this method.
- Q: I went and got my blood drawn and I have my good cholesteral bad ;[ i need fat free and high fiber diets
- If you have a doctor that tells you that your cholesterol is high because you're eating too much of it, than you need a new doctorWe do not get cholesterol from the foods that we eatRather, cholesterol is stimulated by the foods that we eatLDL Cholesterol (the bad kind) is stimulated by saturated fats and other things like phosphoric acid (common in most soda's)The problem is that you don't need a fat-free diet, you need instead to replace saturated fats with poly-unsaturated fats (we NEED fat in our diet and anybody who tells you otherwise is WRONG)So, to the pointUse Olive Oil or Canola Oil instead of butterThese are both very high in polyunsaturated fats and, even more importantly, are full of anti-oxidentsBuy 1% milk instead of WholeThe difference in taste is negligable but you're significantly reducing the number of fat calories you're getting from itAs above, use salad dressings that are olive-oil basedCream based dressings like ranch and blue-cheese are full of saturated fatsDo not use 'spreadable butter' as these are full of both trans fats (even the ones that say 0grams of trans fatsmay still have 0.5g of trans per serving) and saturated fatsAdd granola and oats to your dietReplace white rice with brown rice (cooking is basically the same)Definitely increase your intake of vegiesI like stir-fries (use olive oil, not vegetable oil or butter)Throw in some garlic and turmeric (turmeric has lots of really awesome properties including reducing LDL cholesterol), a little salt and pepper and you're in good shapeAlso, reduce your red-meat intake and increase your lean meat intake (chicken and fish, in particular)Pork is technically not red meat but it's high in all the stuff you don't wantGood snacks are thinks like nuts and raw vegetablesDried fruits are also great and high in fiberGood luck! It's tough when you get the You've got too much bad stuff in you diagnosis.
- Q: Hello,I am having my rental studio apartment renovatedThe worker has made several mistakes:but one i am unsure about, if it's acceptable or not.he put the wiring of the heater between the heater and the wallusually i see the wiring above or below or beside the heaterthat is, the chord from the heater goes out to the left or right above or below and directly to the wallIn this case he put the wiring directly in the middle behind the heaterIn addition he didn't even cover the wiring-he left a gaping hole with open wiresbut even with a plastic box over it, i question if the chord which would be tightly squeezed between heater and wall for it's path to the wall and then the part where the wires are in the wall would fare well if directly stuck to heater(1500 watts-some sort of thermal heater that keeps the heat well-not ceramic but something like that)thanks for your answers.
