- Q: So i have a 20 gallon fish tank and i bought a new light for it and it came with 5 different lights 4 LED bars 2 white and 2 blue, and 4 smaller lights that are a darker blue i was told that the smaller darker lights where night lights and suppose to come on at night but what about the 2 other blue lights? am i suppose to turn those on at the same time as the 2 white lights?
- I think the different lights are for atmosphere, we never had night lights on any of our tanks, mostly because they were too bright. I have seen lights that imitate sunrise to sunset, strobe lights, light bars, treasure chest lights, lighted castles (some of the fancier tanks get pretty wild in what they can do). The majority of lighted items are not in the water directly but in a special box built for them. Different colors and brightened lights in the light box and programable lights, it's almost a whole art from how to illuminate your tank. I know there are different grow lights, and some of the lights can produce heat while others can help encourage or discourage algee growth for your fish. Unless your doing some type of light therapy for your fish or you need them for breeding or something like plant growth I really don't think it matters as long as they sit kick off too much heat and overheat your fish (incandescent lights will, led and fluorescent lights don't.
