- Q: Okay so I just got 3 fiddler crabs, 1 male and 2 females.I just bought a 10 gallon tank to keep them in, and I put sand in the tank on the land side and gravel on the water side, I started pouring water in and now the water is brown because of the sand.It's ZooMed Excavator clay burrowing substrate.I have 2 filters running in it right now to try and clear out the murkiness, but I want to know if it's okay to put the crabs in now, or if I should wait until the water is completely clear?I have a small pool with clear water in it that they can use but I am afraid of putting them in the tank because I don't know if they can swim in murky water.HELP PLEASE!
- Firstly, Crabs have poor vision, and even if they cant see for a few hours while the tank clears, they will be fine. you might want to turn the lights off so that they dont stress, and turn them on when the water is clear. other than that, i would assume they would be fine. if the pool u have has chlorine in it, then obviously dont put them in it, but if it has decholrinated water that is safe for the crabs, then it might be a temporary setup. hope that helped

- For a leopard gecko I would not recommend anything but paper towels. But thats me. The adults can live on any surface as long as its not to hot or cold. They are not really going to dig in the clay so its a waste of time but it will not hurt them. Thanks for answering my question also.

- If you wanted to calculate the volume with some accuracy, you would graph the shape of the bucket and using calculus, find the area under the curve(s). Then just multiply by the length of the bucket. Or a quick and dirty estimate would be to multiply the length by the average width times the height of product carried in the bucket. Or, using what I call the Thomas Edison method, ram the bucket into a big pile of sand, dump it out on a surface and shovel it all into buckets of known size. Add 'em all up and you've got your volume.

- The best things you can use as substrate are paper towels and reptile carpet. Sand, of any sort, poses the risk of impaction. If you want to provide a sand box for your bearded dragon most reccomend common playsand that you can get cheap at Home Depot etc.

- If you don't like it your not gonna last, do something you like to do. If you want to work on Heavy Vehicles talk to you counciler they can usually point you in the right direction. I can give you pros and cons, but my oppinion might be differnt from your or the next person. Hope this helps you out
