- Q: We are having an excavator come and rip out our back yard to make it level and finally have grass growing where pine trees once stood. The excavator is recommending that we mulch the old lawn and put it back into the ground, underneath our new sod and irrigation system. I can understand the organic material aspect of it, but wouldn't that just encourage the crab grass to come back? Also, with the old pine needles, wouldn't that add too much acid and kill the new sod? I am confused. Also a little weirded out because our wonderful dog likes to eat socks and other unmentionables, wouldn't that also end up under our new lawn? GOTTA love home improvement!
- I would till in the old lawn, which will provide some nourishment for the new sod. I wouldn't focus so much on the old weeds you are tilling in, more so focus on keeping your grass healthy, regular fertilizing, proper watering, and aerating. Crabgrass like to grow in undisturbed soil, a lawn is a great example, aerating can help cut down on that. Keeping your lawn healthy and thick, (occasional overseeding if necessary) will prevent the weeds from growing. Good luck :)
- Q: my hydraulic excavator SK04 is facing a sudden drop of pressure just after the engine heated up. Initial measured pressure was 4000psi but after half an hour drop to 2000 psi. Main release valves readjusted but no effect. The Arm Boom drop by itself to the ground even without opration. It occurs about a few hours later. Entire excavator has lost its power after engine heated up.
- leaky control valve or leaky pistons. replace o-rings
- Q: can someone explain how to use ratcheting binders please. using them to chain down bobcats, mini excavators, small tractors etc. i have only used snap binders but our company replaced them all with ratcheting binders. thanks
- Very similar to operating a socket rachet for a bolt. Set the lock, move the handle back and forth.
- Q: What is the difference between a backhoe and an excavator?
- Backhoe is usually mounted on a smaller tractor with a loader on the front. an excavator or trackhoe is just the digging bucket, no loader and isnt on a small tractor frame. Usually excavators are much bigger than backhoes, but you can buy little ones
- Q: There was a big Mack Truck with a long trailer hauling a CAT machine,(huge excavator) in the slow lane, and I went to go around him and pass him in the fast lane, as I did so, a rock flew from the wheels of the machine and struck my windshield and smashed it. The wheels on the machine were covered in mud and stones, like it wasn't even cleaned off before they started to haul it. I got in front of the truck and was trying to get the guy to pull over, but of course he was on his cell phone and wouldn't and just blew the horn at me. So I ended up getting the license plate # and the name of the company and filed a police report. My question is, do you think that that company should be held responsible, because my insurance is trying to charge me my deductible, and I just don't have that money right now. I think that it was the companies fault for not making sure that the equipment was clean and was able to be hauled without something like this happening.
- You wont be able to prove the rock came from their truck, or truck tire kicked it up from road. I had same thing happen to me some yrs back. Just pay deductible and get new windshield.
- Q: How big of construction jobs can these do and can someone make a good living owning one where there is always construction going on? What kind of jobs and how big a job can these machines do?
- yes. you have more than enough truck to tow this. my uncle and i pulled a semi up a hill with his. so yeah... youve got truck. dont under estimate it. car trailer should do it. but at least get a tandem axle. most tandem axle trailers already have brakes so if u hook everything up you're good to go. 7 pin = braking. however a brake controller (sits up in the cab and controls how much work the trailer brakes are doing) is strongly reccomended) 4pin= lights only. if you do get a car trailer. look at what its maximum capacity is. go to a trailer dealer. (the one ur going to buy from) and ask them which trailer best suits your needs (they tend to know what they're doing) and when i say car trailer i mean flatbed that weighs well more than you can push around by hand
- Q: Is it practical for electric motors in heavy cargo haulers (18 wheelers) & earth movers move heavy loads?
- Yes, in fact arguably the biggest mobile equipment on earth, bucket wheel excavators, are almost entirely electric. Google Bagger 288
- Q: What does Caterpillar excavator have to do with cat shoes?
- It was a company that produced boots early, then went into outdoor recreation, and the quality of shoes was as good as the quality of excavators
- Q: I'm looking on behalf of my company - who needs to get tracks and undercarriage parts for some Bobcat machinery.
- I have had good luck with a company called Gabberdeen. They have everything. I have a 331 and I got my whole undercarriage and tracks for them from CHEAP. Find them on the internet.
- Q: Can anyone help me with a circuit diagram for the ECU in a Hitachi tracked excavator/digger model EX100-5. Or does anyone know of any online forums where I could get any information at all? I'd appreciate it if you could help me.
- I type this out 3 and 4 times a day, I wish people would write it down. You can pull up your vehicle and print out what ever you want to repair.
