- I listen to Metal and I absolutely hate the terms Metal-Head Headbanger, I don't fit the stupid stereotype. My head isn't made out of metal, and I don't bang my head either. I like the music, simple as that, not the stereotyping sub-culture of the genre. So no, not all Metal listeners have to be labelled.

- Thats a tough question for me.....I like a lot of bands from America (Throwdown, Pantera, Hatebreed, LOG, etc) but I love a lot of bands from other places in the world (Soilwork, The Haunted, etc).......personally, I think both have really produced great metal bands....but for the sake of the number of bands I listen to that have come from America over the years compared to elsewhere, I will have to go with American Metal....although I do greatly agree with you on European Melodic Death Metal bands.... edit: After reading some of the other answers, I want to clarify that I am not just talking about metal today, but throughout the years...

If I had to narrow it down I would say my favorite genres are all types of black metal (excluding raw) , finnish folk metal, and European power metal.
