Many bands where influenced by early Heavy Metal, but many don't want to be labeled Metal, because of the image evryone has of it, also because many feel giving a label on their music would take out that element of we are unique and great that many people in grunge have, just re-watch the show and see how many hipsters are interviewed, they feel unique and great because grunge is theirs and want to stay away as much as posible from a Metal influence, even thoug its there.

Q: I've heard that they are nu metal. But what is that...isn't that the same thing as metal? I know metal has different subgenres but why do people make it so complicated?
