- Having seen both in various video clips, I would have to lean towards Irving Crane. Crane was winning world championships from his twenties well into his sixties. Yes, Mosconi has more records and world titles to his name, but most historians agree that his 526 ball run was performed on a 4' x 8' table, which would not have been considered professional conditions. I'm not taking anything away from Mosconi. Crane was a far better defensive player. Personally, I would have liked to have seen Ralph Greenleaf in his prime. So little video footage is available from those years unfortunately. Very good question.

- Sorry, but there's no such thing as a Chips Ahoy Crane/Machine. I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about, though. Chip the Wolf's Grabbing Machine, right? They deleted it a while ago. Links used to work for about a month after they deleted the machine, but now they don't. - its pretty basic tech, first of all you need a crane then you need to attach an electro magnet, the magnet is comprised of copper cable wound into a circular shape inside an iron casing (it would work just as well on the outside of an iron disk but the cable would be damaged and the magnet would stop working) the more winds the cable has the stronger the magnet, next the two ends of the cable are connected to a power source (negative and positive) turn the power on to activate the magnet turn the power off to deactivate it..... simple really

- You use statics. You get the specs for the crane and what it is lifting and determine from the site the pick angles and where the outriggers are going to be placed. Then you do the 3-D calcs to determine the reactions necessay and determine the soil's allowable bearing pressure, then design temporary footing based on that.
