Q: i am making a wired crane robot to pick and drop a wooden block of about 5*5*10cm dimension. I would like to know wat r the different possible lifting mechanisms by which i can lift the wooden block.Ideas other than the normal claw shaped lifters: There are different attachments that you can put on the end of your crane to pick up this block. You can make a set of forks (like a forklift) that would slide under the block (block would have to be elevated on a skid). You can pick up this block with a suction cup. You can also pick up the block by clamping the sides of the block by replicating a scissor type mechanism.

Q: I know you need to put current around the magnet (or certain type of metal) in order to attract but is it possible to use as pushing an object away. if there is please tell me how!: To push an object away, you need equipment that is low to the ground when it applies the force. Bulldozers are designed to push objects. Electromagentic cranes are designed to deal with vertical forces, so they are used to lift and drop metal objects. They use electricity to flow through coils wrapped around a metal core to generate a strong magnetic field. Trying to use them to push things could cause a crane to tip over since they are not designed to deal with horizontal forces. Even if you could get the electromagnet wired to repel metal objects, when you bring the electromagnet near the object, it would repel away in an unwieldy manner because of friction and interference with the ground. And trying to direct a large electromagnet at the end of a long chain would be difficult.

Q: do they get the concrete blocks up that hang at the end? Do they use another type of crane to assemble them?: Tower cranes assembly starts with the foundation of the crane with lot concrete blocks for fixing, then they fix the first bottom part of the crane then they fix the boom with the counter weights, when they want to extend the height, they fix a jack up machine which lift up the boom and then insert a vertical piece and so on till they reach the required height. During the first installation they use a small mobile crane and then after the crane it self lift and fix the pieces

Potential energy = mgh = 3000x9.81x8.5 = 250,155 J You know this is correct, because it is the same amount of work the crane performed on the object to lift it.

And btw, this story is for Geography.Thank you. :): i am not a crane driver myself , but into this field of construction . get a licence as driver from authority just as a car driver. know how to drive the crane ad a driver know how to operate a crane as a operator. know the performance of the crane and its limits. the salary can vary depending on the type of crane and its special features. but not in the high end grade for sure unless its a very specialised crane operation. u can ask any thing more .
