Take a metallic bolt, and wind many turns of insulated copper wire around it, and connect one end of the wire to a battery, the other end to the other terminal of the battery through a switch. EDIT: Well I actually read the rest of the question (sometimes I get an itchy trigger finger!), and the net force should be found first, the net force includes the weight and the tension in the crane's cable (so you need to find the tension): ∑F = ma = T - mg T = m(a + g) = 425kg(1.80m/s? + 9.80m/s?) = 4930N So the net force is the sum of the tension in the cable and the weight of the beam, or: F = T - mg = 4930N - (425kg)(9.80m/s?) = 735N Then, the work done by the crane is: W = FΔy = 735N(117m) = 8.95 x 10^4J Does not match any of your choices, so I am perplexed! is the 60 is the traveling distance or the span? if it is the span then this no way can be achieved or found, also 2500 tons is not logic for a single lift, you need to verify the design requirements. Usually crane span is related to structural frame spans, the lift has to be a practical one, which ranges from 1 ton to a 250 tons which is again very rare, majority traveling cranes are from 1 ton to 25 tons

All maximum. On some of the older cranes it's written on a plate: so many tonnes at so much radius etc. In the really good old days a pointer needle was on the side of the jib pointing to a scale in tonnes, variable as the jib went in/out/up/down. If you think about it, there's no other way to rate a crane apart from its maximum performance. Hope this helps.

I don't really understand what you're saying, but I'll try to help. You can only enter the crane every few minutes or so (I'm not sure of the exact time). When the crane is closed, there will be a gray door barring the way. When it is open, it will have a greenish-yellowish open doorway. You have to wait for it to arrive and open.
