- Q: I'm researching what to do after completing a crochet project. There are numerous websites that discuss blocking- the methods- what blocking method to do for each type of yarn- the necessity of blocking, depending on whether you crochet a scarf, or a sweaterRight now, I'm crocheting a stoleSo far, the stitches are (finally!!!) coming out nicely, and I imagine this stole will keep someone warm.Based on your experiences, if you were crocheting a stole using 75% wool, 25% nylon yarn, would you block it, or just let it flow?
- Humidity should be at 45% to 60% but higher when the snake is sheddingHydrometers can tell you the tanks humidity levelsWhen in shedding, try putting a plastic container large enough for snake to fit, in your cageCut a hole in the lid and put in damp paper towel to make a cheap humidity boxAlso, dry bathing your snake in lukewarm water for 15 minutes a dayThe larger the water dish, the more humidity you will getPlacing the water dish in a warm area (over under tank heat pad or under light) of the enclosure can increase the effectsYou can increase humidity by covering half, but no more than that, of the cage top with some water proof materialPlexiglass, and wet towels have been usedBy covering the top of the cage on the side where you have the water dish, you will greatly increase the efficiency of your setupThe best way to help keep your cage at the proper humidity levels is to spray the cage once or twice a day with room temperature waterLightly mist the entire enclosure, including substrate and cage wallsThe substrate that you use in your enclosure can significantly effect the humidity in the cageIf you want to increase and maintain higher levels of humidity try using orchid bark, cypress mulch, coconut husk, various mosses(not all moss)Pine and cedar shavings should NEVER be used as they contain chemicals that cause respiratory and other problems that lead to deathThe shavings must be monitored closely and all soiled and wet shavings pulled out immediately to prevent bacteria and fungus growths.
- Q: I work for an HVAC company and often have to replace old ductworkAs a result I usually get the old nasty insulation all over my body and clothingI've always done my best to wash my work clothes separatelyBut once I accidentally washed my jacket FULL of insulation fibers with all of my normal clothes (underwear included)Dumb mistake I knowSO, that was about a month ago, and ever since every single pair of underwear (20 pairs) itch the living hell out of me once I start to move in them more and moreI've washed them 5-7 times in hot and cold water; and it doesn't go awayIt's driving me absolutely insaneWill it ever go away????? Or should I just buy all new underwear???
- You might just have to get new underwearYou also might have the insulation fibers stuck inside your washing machineI had that happen a time or twoAlso when removing old insulation wear gloves long sleeves and tape the sleeve and glove cuff together with duct tapeThis will keep most of all those fibers out of your clothing.
- Q: I have an 11 year old TB mare who grows just a little bit of a winter coatWe live in New EnglandThe barn she is kept at requested a chart for which blanket I would like on her at what temperatureI have a waterproof sheet, and medium and a heavy weight turnoutShe is on turnout 24/7 with a sturdy run-in shed. Also, I may be moving her to an indoor and doing a full body clip, but then she would be stalled at nightHow does that effect what others do for blankets?
- I would say rain sheet above 45 and only if it is raining, these don't breathe all that well and even with a light winter coat she is better off without it as long as she stays dry45-25 I would use the mid weight and only when it is very cold use the heavyIt is better to slightly under blanket her, she can get out of the wind and rain and the last thing you want is her sweating under the blanket, which will cause a chillIf you body clip her I would only slightly modify the temperatures, maybe 5 degreesHorses with their large mass are designed to keep themselves warm.
- Q: I have being married since 2004When I said my wedfing vowels I meantedHowever, as time goes on I began to believe that my husband does not treat me as his priorityMy husband have a 25 y.old son who does not work, and just moved inMy husband said we must help my SS to manage to finish trade school (this is the 4th scholl since 2008)Needless to say how frustrated I am with a rude, moody, self-centered, irresponsible 25 years old young man in my homeMy husband pays for everything from cigarettes to gasoline cellphones even for his son'date with the girlfriendIn the mean time I had to move my bedroom to the attic do my SS voulf have a roomThe attic has no insulation and its freezing coldI am a very hard working person, currently I am working in my BSWIn summary, I not happy at all.
- You need to remind your rotten husband of the wedding vows he made to you! It is your home, not his son's, so why on earth should you sleep in the attic? I hope you don't cook for your husband (or his son): tell him you are too tired to cook anything nice as you don't sleep well in the cold atticSame with cleaning, etc I've no idea what a BSW is, but you need to find a way to save up some money and find somewhere else to live I suggest you both read Dr Phil McGraw's excellent book, Relationship Rescue(I wish I got commission, as I recommend it to so many people!)As he writes in the book, it’s not only for people whose relationships are in trouble.
- Q: Has anyone tried these winter blankets? what do you think of them?
- What brand did you buy last year? I've never used the ones you have linked aboveI sell some nice winter blankets at the store I work and and thus far haven't had any complaintsAs far as the thickness of the blanket, My horses use the 600D 300gm polyfil and if it drops way down (liek last year we had 2 days of 10 degree weather) I simply put a slinky under it or a fleece blanket linerIf you are close to Nashville or want to make a trip up, msg me and I'll let you know what we've gotBut I wouldn't get any thicker than 600D with 300 gm polyfilly My guys are pasture kept 100% of the time and they haven't torn theirs up yet Weatherbeeta , Ozak and Classic Equine are all good brands that are resonably priced IF you get them from the right placeJt IntDist tough 1 blankets are decent but they do tear up quickerthey are more sutiable for the horse that is stalled for the most part and allowed some turn out timeWeatherbeeta is by far the toughest I have foundBut seriously i'm in TNmsg me and we'll see what we can do to help ya out:)
- Q: i have some questions1is it necessary.?2is the opening remain open all year around.?3what is the best material for the doom on the roof vent?
- You need a roof vent for attic ventilation, this allows your attic to remain cool and keeps it dryThe area that you live in and the climate will dictate how big an opening you needAlso the level of insulation exisiting within your attic as well as ventilation down to the eves will also help it outSO yes its necessary, and here in Minnesota even with snow they remain open year round, and a more effective vent is those spinning ones they are an active vent and move a lot of airCheck out the link different types.

- the kind that is readily available in your area they are all rated so one is as good as another
- Q: I have the flu and when I woke up my left eye was a little tender and green mucus was coming outAny idea why and how can I treat it?
- If you get ribs with a bit of marbling this will ensure that they are juicy so you don't have to marinate themSome times just some simple spices can go a long way to complement the flavor of the meatJust make sure if you put salt on them to do this right before you take them off the grill because the salt will soak up moisture from the meat.
