- Always tile first and a professional carpet installer will make the transition. You don t say what or how tile is to be installed or even the type of carpet.. - Total tiles = 5 * (4/4) + 4 * (2/4) + 4 * (1/4) = (20 + 8 + 4) / 4 = 32 / 4 whole tile equivalents = 8 whole tile equivalents We can conclude that since 20 x 20 = 400 = 8 whole tile equivalents the area of one whole tile is 400/8 = 50 sq cm So we take the dimensions of the table, a * b, and divide by 50 to find out how many whole tile equivalents we'll need. How many whole, half, and quarter tiles will be needed depends on the shape of the table and the exact dimensions of both the table and the tiles. The tiles might be any of these sizes: 5 x 10 cm 4 x 12.5 cm 8 x 6.25 cm or some other numbers as long as the product is 50 sq cm.

- I suggest that you first prep and fill your concrete and let dry. Next you should lay out some tile pieces on an area near your starting point fitting the pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle. Next spread some tile mastic over an area equal to the size of the area where you have laid out tile pieces that fit together. Next, quickly set the tiles in the mastic in the same pattern that you had them laid off to the side leaving at least about 1/8th gaps between the tile pieces. When you are finished, scrape off any mastic that does not have tile set in it. Repeat this process until you completely cover your floor. Allow to dry for a day and then fill the cracks with grout. Allow the grout to dry for a day and then do an acid wash to remove the grout residue.

- Vinyl tiles are not a very good flooring for bathrooms. Sheet vinyl is 100 times better. I'd replace them totally, its better to do that, than get warped floor boards and a stained ceiling. Sorry to say this, but I'm a professional floor layer and I fit these tiles aswell as sheet vinyl, and I advise customers against the tiles, their cheap and easy to install, but they are a mediocre flooring.

- Im sorry Ever Wolf, i'm sure you're a good contractor, but you're no tile installer. Non-sanded grout is for grout joints 1/8 or smaller. sanded grout is for grout joints 1/8 or larger. The sand is for stability in larger grout joints. NEVER use sanded grout in anything smaller than 1/8 When installing marble tile, it is customary to butt the tiles against each other with no grout joint at all. The edges of the tiles are machined with a micro-bevel so there will be a slight groove between them that are to be filled with an unsanded grout. Use latex fortefied WHITE thinset mortar. Marble can be a bit translucent and the darker grey thinset can show through. There is alot more to consider such as what to do with the edges, but that is too involved to try to explain here. good luck with your project!
