- Q: We‘re fixing our place and will need about 1200 sq ft of 24x24 tile. Any ideas as to how/where one can get this at wholesale/lower cost? Thanks!
- You ll have trouble finding a lot in a 24x 24 tile wholesale/retail or other wise. These are a more pricey tile since the size alone makes them hard to handle, transport and produce. Your chance are better off in a 16x16 or 18x18 tiles because of getting that many you can pallet pricing and get a discount. Unless you have a builders license your not supposed to be able to buy them wholesale but you can get a deal in that quantity through your mom and pop flooring places. You may be able to find a deal at your discount places, but a lot of that tile is close out and discontinued tiles which I don t recommend when getting that amount.( may not be able to get more should you need it.) - Q: How to paste tiles better
- Precautions ????Tiles before the application of blisters, the number of bubbles can be built how much, do not all the one-time bubble finished, soaked with water to meet the construction progress of the workers. Due to improper mixing of cement and sand caused by the proportion or due to improper cement, cement, the proportion of large, strong adhesion of tiles, brick can quickly stick, but the high proportion of cement mixing, cement mortar expansion coefficient, easy After the paving the brick will be cracked. The recommended ratio of wall tiles is 1: 3, tiles are: 1: 2 - 3, cement cement is numbered 32.5 cement. Grinding to be careful not to damage the tile glaze layer, the link attention to the gap, not too small.
- Q: Has anyone every used Ceramic Tiles to re-do bathroom floors? I‘ve seen it done on HGTV but just wanted to knw if it was really that easy?
- We've tiled a few rooms, it's not hard, but it takes time and practice. Here's what you need to know: Laying out the grid can be time consuming, but very worth the trouble. Cutting tiles straight across or boxy is easy. Curves are more challenging- don't expect a perfect arc. You don't have to do glue down the tiles all at once, but you do want to do the grout all at once. DEFINITELY use the spacers that you can put ONE in the middle of the four corners and stick above the tiles to pull out easily. The tiles need to dry in the glue at least a day before grouting. Consider the color of your grout as carefully as the color of tile you buy. Mix the grout carefully and use a tile sponge to get the grout smooth. Carefully clean as much grout as possible off the tiles. The grout must dry at least a day before sealing. You should re-seal your grout to maintain your floor as directed on the sealant. The spray on sealer is magic for smaller areas. A large area might get expensive and more time consuming?
- Q: the third tile. All three tiles types have the same side length. Determine the shape of the third tile type.
- Where 3 tiles meet, they must add up to a full 360°. The formula for the interior angle of a regular n-sided polygon is: ((n - 2)*180) / n Plugging in n=4, the interior angle of a square is 90° Plugging in n=5, the angle of a pentagon is 108° The angle of the third tile is x and the 3 angles must add up to a full 360°: 90 + 108 + x = 360 Solve for x: x = 360 - 198 x = 162 Plug that into the original equation and solve for n: ((n - 2) * 180) / n = 162 (n-2) * 180 = 162n n - 2 = (162/180)n n - (162/180)n = 2 (18/180)n = 2 (1/10)n = 2 n = 2 * 10 n = 20 So the third tile must be from a regular icosagon (20-sided polygon) Answer: Regular icosagon; see the picture below.
- Q: We are in need of installing a tile back splash in our kitchen. Where can you find the best prices on tile? I live in the Atlanta area, and there are lots of places. I am just not sure what a good price is. We are looking for standard 6 x 6 tile. Also, is there any other way to save money in the process? We do have access to a wet saw to cut the tile. Thanks for your help!
- A tiled back splash should cost very little in general. I set tile around the entire kitchen above the sink stove and counter tops. The entire job including stylish glass tiles cost me under $100 That included Tile, Thin-set, spacers, 15-square foot tiles, grout and grout sealer. Tile is an inexpensive solution, it just takes a little time due to having to wait for some processes to cure before proceeding to the next step. If it's your first attempt I would recommend purchasing a small container of (premixed) thin set to make sure the consistency is right. Careful not to use too much of the stuff. It's probably why it's called (thin-set). A small amount spread on the wall with the thin set applicator and a very thin amount applied to the back of each tile is all you'll need. Use a level as you go to make sure the tiles are straight You may want to buy one of those 10-20 dollar kits that are sold in a bucket that comes complete with everything you'll need to do the job. The kit should include the bucket, a sponge, tile spacers, tile nips, rubber float for spreading the grout and the tool used to apply the thin set to the wall.
- Q: I have calculated that I need 388 tiles, each 9 inches big, how many come in one box?, I need to know how many boxes to order
- i think you need to measure the size of your tile again .a 9 inch tile is very very uncommon I have been doing tile for many years and never have layed 9 inch tile there is 6 inch 8 inch and the most common will be your 12 inch tile you need to check
- Q: New handyman project involves putting ceramic tile on bathroom walls. Never tried this before. Any tips or suggestions? What about a web site with do it yourself directions?
- I agree with fearjar. You could tile over tile, but its best to do it right and go back to a solid, clean base that is free of mold and other defects. This gives you a chance to inspect the plumbing (which according to Murphy's law will burst if you don't check it) and will make for a more even installation.
- Q: Should I put in a ceramic tile shower or cultured marble shower? Which would provide a better return when selling the house?
- Question is.....can you afford cultured marble? Also will the marble go with the rest of the house when it is evaluated for sale.Sometimes high fancy and or pricey materials in a sale market are not going to increase value, can actually take away from value if potential buyers DONT like that material. Say i walk into open house and i decide i dont like the marble.....I want Travertine...........or cobalt ceramic..... do you think i'm going to give more money for a home where im going to have to take Your materials out and install my own tatse?
- Q: My wife noticed that our kitchen tile is made of a stone type substance not the traditional shiny type. well, i have to re grout the floor but now i also want to put a sealant on top of the whole floor. whats the best stuff and way? ty
- Tile Lab, Cerama Seal and Miracle 511 is the 3 main ones I ve used over the years with out a problem. Get one that is a penetrating sealer which can be used on grout as soon as 72 hrs after grouting. But if you truly have a stone and not a glazed product you ll want to seal the tiles before grouting and then 72 hrs after to seal the grout and then seal the grout twice, Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
