Press fitting system joins pipe without welding or bolting. The components fit by crimping through the use of a special pressing tool. An O-ring that is inserted in the fitting ends of the pipe ensures a leak-proof connection. Press fitting system is the trend of pipeline industry. It is widely used in cold and hot water supply, heating supply, fire protection, medicinal gas, industrial petroleum pipeline system etc.

- PVC glue basically chemically welds the PVC together. It shouldn't ever turn if glued properly.

- exactly you need a need slip joint washer depends on whether your in a mobile home or a house usually the washers are 11/8 or 11/4. That'll take care of the slipage take a look at the nut as well the threads could me stripped or it could be cracked. Don't flip the washer the tapered end needs to insert into the female/tapered end of the p-trap. as you tighten the nut it will expand and hold the joint tight as well as seal the joint. if all else fails they sell a package with a p-trap and all the washers you will need to reassemble it properly at your local hardware store. dont use teflon tape on slip joints its a temporary fix and should be used on threaded pipe fittings only, it will limit the tightening of the slip joint.

- without seeing the job-but having done a lot of repairs in older houses-i can sympathise with your very real problem.the first being that the last home-owners either were unaware or were too cheap to do the job properly. there is only one solution that i would reccomendhire a licenced bonded plumber to inspect the projectwalls will probably have to be opened so be prepaired to hire a carpenter to repair the finished job. this is not a job for your local handyman-if done improperly it may cost you a lot more in the future. a TEMPORARY fix- you can use dialectric fittings-threaded one end(galv. end)-sweat joint other(copper end). i cannot stress enough that this is a band-aid fix.DO THE JOB RIGHT and save future expense headach.good luck

- 3. if it is a faucet, it is caused by the abrasion of the core gasket in the faucet. Use pliers to pull the gland loose and remove. Remove the axle washer with a clamp and change it with a new axle washer.

- cpvc, copper and pex pipe have the same outside diameter. You can run the mains (hot and cold) in cpvc, use reducing couplings or tee fittings to get to 1/2 or 3/4. From there you can use sharkbite couplings to connect the cpvc to copper.
