Function:
● Thickening: CMC can produce high viscosity at low concentration. It also acts as lubricant.
● Water retention: CMC is a water binder, helps increase shelf life of food.
● Suspending aid: CMC acts as emulsifier and suspension stabilizer, particularly in icings to control ice crystal size.
● Film forming: CMC can produce a film on the surface of fried food, eg. Instant noodle, and prevent absorption of excessive vegetable oil.
● Chemical stability: CMC is resistant to heat, light, mold and commonly used chemicals.
● Physiologically inert: CMC as a food additive has no caloric value and can not be metabolized.

- no. those things make the oil flow down into the oil pan. you actually want oil to stick to the metal. it's better when you start the engine. If you want to get the best oil for your engine. Just do what I do and use full synthetic. just use the proper oil weight (usually 5W-XX) that they say to use in the owners manual. Syn doesn't break down at high temps and it lasts 5 times longer than the natural oil. Many people just change the oil filter and just add more syn oil. don't waste you're money on syn blend, either use the all natural oil or the all syn. If you use the blend then you still have oil that will break down just as fast as it would be if it was all natural oil. I own a toyota celica and I use syn and nothing else. tom

- It depends! What are you doing with the finished product? Food source, I'd stay all natural if possible. Growth rate may be slower, but the quality will be better.

- I have never found a marked improvement in MPG's using any fuel additive. They tend to be either system cleaners or octane boosters. If you want better fuel economy, inflate the tires over the pressures posted on the door by two to three pounds (and more then that and tire ware increases and handling suffers). Invest in new spark plugs and air filter. Drop down to the lowest weight of oil allowed in the owners manual. Use less throttle and lift the foot on it sooner when you need to slow down, or think you will have to stop. Lighten the load in the car. If you can, locate a good set of aftermarket exhaust header/s and a low restriction catalytic. Install a air dam on the front and a modest deck extension on the back. Do not confuse a deck extension with a spoiler or wing!

I know they put additives in jet fuel to keep them from exploding so much in the event of a crash. If this additive doesn't burn during a crash, it might not burn in the engine. - This is a tough one. First of all there are no additives in jet fuel. Commercial jet fuel is JT5 (also called JetA) which is basically kerosene. Second the combustion efficiency of the burner section in a jet engine is 99.99% so very little unburnt fuel goes out the exhaust. If jet engines did emit an oily residue then the runways at busy airports would be covered in no time and too slippery to land on. This is not the case. It could be possible that the engines are kicking up debris from the ground but before you go on the war path with the test area you might want to explore other possibilities.
