These procedures are continually repeated in the assembly of the scaffold.

- Q: Mine has passed the healing date and i have had another one put in it's been over 2 months since i had it done...but there is still some swelling on the top half of the ear that is pierced...will it go down eventually or is there something wrong with it?
- it will eventually go down. industrials can take up to a year to heal. don't worry about it.
- Q: My current bar, my first ever bar, is about 43mm long, but it has a large gap from my ear to the balls, either side (1/2 cm each side)What length(mm) bar should I get now?
- There is no way to know, everyone's ear is a different size so length of the bar is going to vary from person to person. Go to another piercer to have them fit jewelry to you.

- I had my cartilage pierced a few times in training and it doesnt hurt, its more the after pain that is most irritating, just take paracetamol!
- Q: I'm wanting to get a part of my ear pierced in the summer,which should I get,how much do each hurt,what is the healing period for each.I am getting it in the summer so it has time to heal before I go back to school,Help??
- Industrial takes the longest to heal, cartilage and tragus are pretty similar but infection/complications are more common in tragus piercings as they are knocked a lot by hair and headphones etc. They all hurt the same amount, unless you get your cartilage done with a gun, in which case it's much less painful (but more risk of your cartilage cracking, which is pretty painful in the long term). Industrials are usually done as two cartilage piercings with two bars, then the long bar is put in after they've healed. You should expect some discomfort and scarring around the piercing holes for quite a while afterwards. Tragus piercings often give you problems as the area is near to ear wax which contains all sorts of debris and dust ect. Most cartilage piercings should heal fine and be pretty low maintenance, and there are lots of varieties. If you want something unusual, google a 'rook' piercing.
- Q: Everybody calls it either one, i want the one that goes across the top of your ear. Would it be safer to have two helix done instead of putting the bar straight in and getting the actual piercing or should i get two helix and put a bar in once it has healed? i would ask the piercer to line the two up. ive heard that industrails go wrong alot if a bar is put right in.
- When you do the two piercings separate and then put the bar in for healing, you have a chance of slight migration and when that happens, it's possible for the bar not to fit properly since industrials have to be at a perfect angle. I had a bar put in straight away and had no problem and I go to a really amazing piercer. Both ways have their cons, with a bar running through two piercings if one gets infected, the other is likely too as well. But if you take care of the piercing properly, that shouldn't be a problem.
- Q: I got my scaffolding piercing yesterday (a bar through the cartilage) and when i woke up this morning there was quite a lot of blood, i mean like there was big clumps of it around the holes. I've cleaned it up and it seems to look okay and it isn't any more painful than when i got it done yesterday. Is this normal?Thanks (:
- Yeah, your body is reacting to having a giant metal rod through it =] Its likely that in your sleep youve rolled onto it and that has caused the piercing to bleed. You can try putting a pillow next to you to aviod you rolling over. Otherwise dont sweat it just keep cleaning twice daily and youll be fine.

- These days piercings are so common they'll suit anyone. Not everyone has enough room in their ear for a scaffolding or industrial piercing, so check with a piercer first. It's better to have two separate bars in while it's healing, because if you think about it, the long bar will make sleeping so uncomfortable and will put pressure on the piercings which will not allow it to heal to the best of your body's ability.
