Q: How do plastic sheets handle extreme weather conditions?
Plastic sheets are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. They are often made from durable materials such as high-density polyethylene or polycarbonate, which have excellent resistance to UV radiation, temperature variations, and moisture. These sheets can handle extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and even hail without cracking, warping, or fading. Additionally, some plastic sheets have specific additives or coatings that further enhance their weather resistance, making them suitable for long-term outdoor use in various climates.
Q: Can plastic sheets be used for protective barriers in retail settings?
Yes, plastic sheets can be used effectively as protective barriers in retail settings. They offer a transparent and durable solution that helps to create a physical barrier between the customers and staff, minimizing the risk of transmission of germs or viruses. Plastic sheets can be easily installed as sneeze guards or checkout dividers, providing an added layer of protection for both employees and customers.
Q: I have a large sheet of plastic, or I think its plastic. Its about 1/8 inch thick, knubby on one side, smooth on the other and slightly pliable. I'd like to cut equal size panels to fit into my window shutters. I tried using a glass cutter and T square but that didn't work. Any suggestions?
been a while since I last used a table saw --- but with the correct blade and a slow feed that is what is correct == you can probably rent a table saw if not owned -- try Lowe's or the HoDepot or a commercial tools rental store -- either way you will neew the correct blade [[ get set up and you can rent for one half day ]] ---- the thin plastic you are talking about is for a florescent light fixture [[ YES ? ]] and it is very brittle .. ir allowed to bind -- like against the table saw rip fence it will most likely splinter and crack in a way that you will not like ... mark your cut and cautiously free-hand the plastic with no rip=fence to avoid the bind ... and slide the smooth side across the T-saw ....a hand saw or a scoring w/knife is not recommended-------
Q: Like the clear plastic used in packaging, and on kids toys and stuff.
What for? Are you going to be taking a big sheet on them?
Q: Are plastic sheets resistant to bending?
Yes, plastic sheets are generally resistant to bending due to their inherent stiffness and rigidity. However, the level of resistance can vary depending on the type and thickness of the plastic sheet.
Q: Do plastic sheets have any impact on the environment?
Yes, plastic sheets have a significant impact on the environment. They are made from non-renewable fossil fuels and take hundreds of years to decompose, contributing to the global plastic pollution crisis. Their production also involves the release of greenhouse gases and toxic chemicals. Additionally, improper disposal of plastic sheets can lead to wildlife entanglement, soil and water contamination, and harm to ecosystems.
Q: Can plastic sheets be bent or molded into shapes?
Yes, plastic sheets can be bent or molded into various shapes by applying heat or pressure.
Q: And does this improve stereo sound quality...???
it's just a moisture barrier. ya! be fine. duct tape to mount iffin you don't have the putty. which you can get a roll of at any auto parts store. re-speakers? the barrier does nothing. nothing short of it's own little enclosure will help those. and that's not always possible. -------- speakers are no better than their enclosures. w/o one, or wrong type, might as well hang it in mid air. but don't let that stop you. it's commonly done in doors. just sayin. i have, if the door skin is close to the magnet, afixed/glued 1/8 thick section of press board to the door skin. as much as it can, cuts down on the influence the door skin *may* have on the magnet.
Q: in my interpet fish box there is a plastic removable sheet under the lights can i remove it?
It sounds like you’re talking about something that would normally be between the bulb and the water – so that’s how I’ll answer: If you are talking about a very thin plastic sheet that can be peeled off (like plastic wrap for food) – it’s only there to prevent damage during shipping. But, it the sheet has any thickness (ie 1/16” or more), then no. Without a barrier, water vapor will condense (become liquid water) on many parts of the light fixture as it cools during the night. Over time, that liquid water can corrode the metal contacts the light fixture and/or create an electrical short.
Q: I am making paintings (fine art) that can be painted and lifted like large decals. I have used 6 mil shipping plastic, This works great, but is hell to format and non-permanent. I need to identify and locate a more stable substitute. (Clear plastic sheeting; large solid sheets that watersoluble paint will peel off of.)I would think the same thing tupperware is made of (polypropylene), but cannot find it in flat clear sheets. Does anyone know what the clear painters pallettes are made of (melamine?) and if it is sold in sheets to the public? I have been trying to put a finger on this for over 2 years--any help or leads out there?thanx
Poly carbon Lexan would work well. My husband was the plant manager for a place that made clear bottom kayaks and that it what they used. It comes in different thicknesses and is bulletproof. One of my hubby's fav tests for the buyer was to take a 12 lb sledgehammer and beat on the kayak to show how strong it was. It is also very lightweight. The whole kayak only weighed 38 lbs. I did the graphics on them and the acrylic should peel off nicely. If you would like more info go to my profile and e-mail me. Good luck!
