Q: A question for electriciansi am getting a bachelors degree in entertainment technology. The apprenticeship program is closed but i would like to get a head start for the next go around. Should i go to school and get a masters in electrical engineering or should i become a grunt and get the experience? orwhat do you guys think? I know local 3 is hard to get intovery hard???
Electrician and Electrical engineering are two different types of jobs. The following is from the sources listed below. Most electricians learn their trade through apprenticeship programs. These programs combine on-the-job training with related classroom instruction. Electricians install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, and communications. They also may install and maintain the electronic controls for machines in business and industry. Electrical engineers design, develop, test, and supervise the manufacture of electrical equipment. Some of this equipment includes electric motors; machinery controls, lighting, and wiring in buildings; automobiles; aircraft; radar and navigation systems; and power-generating, -controlling, and transmission devices used by electric utilities. Although the terms “electrical” and “electronics” engineering often are used interchangeably in academia and industry, electrical engineers have traditionally focused on the generation and supply of power, whereas electronics engineers have worked on applications of electricity to control systems or signal processing. Electrical engineers specialize in areas such as power systems engineering or electrical equipment manufacturing.
Q: I just recently moved into a new house and the main room is laid out weird and the only place for the TV is above the fireplace. There is a small room in the corner that the previous owners used as a small office and I would like to stick all of my equipment (AV receiver, dvd player, cable box, etc.) in there so they will be out of view. Is there a way I could do this and still use the remote from the couch and not have to do everything manually?
there are kits in the market today that can convert infrared signals into electrical signals then back to infrared where the av equipment is. this can be done wirelessly (RF) or wired. the kits are called infrared repeaters. they have many components. a sensor reads signal. a main control unit distributes signals(wirelessly to another control unit or wired to the flashers), then infrared flashers or emitters shoot the infrared beam at each component. click on the site below for more details. an alternative is to get a universal RF remote which doesnt require a line of sight to work. the remote sends signals to a contol unit where the signals are distributed to infrared flashers on the components to be controlled. this way, no wiring through the walls needs to be done. that can also be possible by using RF to transport signals from sensor to flasher (mentioned in above paragraph) if u prefer a cheaper infrared remote.
Q: A -INDIVIDUAL GROUNDS B -THROUGH AN ISOLATION TRANSFORMER C- ONE COMMON GROUND D- NO MORE THAN 3 GROUNDS E- IN PARALLEL?
Ideally you want one common ground for everything. With multiple grounds, you might get voltage differences between ground points (if there are significant currents flowing) which can affect measurements. For noise isolation, some prefer to have separate grounds for power, analog and digital circuits which can be okay as long as you tie them together at a single-point ground.
Q: I'm enlisted and my MOS is 15Y (Armament/Electrical/Avionics Repairer). I'm going to BCT on 20100203 and AIT right after at Ft. Eustis. I'm excited about learning about armament and avionics. I feel proud and privileged to have a chance to work on the numero uno attack helicopter in the world. I want to know how hard it is to get this MOS(no disrespect to other MOS') I have 3 questions in regards to this1) How does 15Y training look like and can I get a head start for the subjects taught right away.2) I would like to go overseas as a first preference, a warzone where I'm needed the most, but also what is the best non combat station to serve in for this MOS overseas and in United States respectively.3) I'm a college graduate(non-citizen pending citizenship in 6 months) and I would like to go to OCS by the end of 2010. Please let me know the best route to do it.Thank you.

Q: examples of electrical equipment in which insulators and conductors are used.and give reasons for their usethxthe one that answers will get 10 points
insulators are used on wires and places you don't want electricity to flow conductors are used in circuit boards and almost every electrical component. conductors are used to carry the flow of electricity.
Q: If I decide to choose electrical engineering as my college major what would I be doing on a regular basis for my job?
Electrical engineers specialize in research and development of electrical equipment, systems, parts and products. To become an electrical engineer, you typically complete a four-year electrical engineering program or get an engineering degree with electrical specialization. Electrical engineers work in offices, lab facilities or at manufacturing plants, and often have a hand in developing new products and uses of technology.
Q: for a store of electrical equipments, I want to create a database for it, what is the data that I should maintain in this database (the names of the columns)?
You need multiple tables. Using int() auto_increment primary keys for linking each section of data you want something like : stock_codes ( id int(6) primary key auto_increment, stock_code varchar(45) unique key, stock_description varchar(45), stock_qty int(6), suppler_id int(6) ) stock_movement ( id int(6) primary key auto_increment, in_date date, out_date date, moved_qty int(6), stock_id int(6), ) It helps to have tables of suppliers details, client details, sales person details, department details etc. If items have possible alternative suppliers you dump the supplier_id from the stock codes and use a link table for the stock id and supplier id to identify each inward transaction. Add tables for any additional information using links from the other tables to co-ordinate the data.
Q: Hi all, i wish to travel to the states soon and would like to bring some electrical items back, as-well as clothes when i travel to New York. From research i have already learned that these goods brought back into the UK can total ?340. But my question is this, if i travel to the US with very little luggage - no clothes or electrical equipment. Then in New York i buy a nice laptop, ipod touch, digital camera (but take the electrical stuff in with my hand luggage) how will they be able to know if the items i want to bring on the plane were in fact brought with me from the UK to US and were already mine? Also if customs say that i have to pay tax for going over the ?340 - how much will it be? say e.g. on a $2000 laptop?
They might have a suspicion that you are importing items back to the UK (rather than having taken them there in the first place) when looking at the US-style electrical plugs. Given that these are not the same kind of plug as is used in the UK, you might raise suspicion when everything you bring back has US plugs (instead of UK plugs with a US adapter). I'd also note that failure to declare goods purchased abroad may make you liable for fines levied by HM Revenue Customs, as well as Customs seizing the goods. For purchases above the ?340 duty-free limit, the taxes paid depend on the total value. The second link below states that the duty paid on goods in excess of ?553 depends on the type of goods imported, and that you should contact HM Revenue Customs directly to find out what duty would be imposed.
Q: I plan to major in electrical engineering. I wanted to know if the stuff I learn there will allow me to do things like fix machines and stuff.I picked this major because I wanted something I can use at home
I would suggest if you want to fix things at home you attend a technical school that trains electricians. Then you can become certified or licensed and earn a living. You might also want to get a degree in mechanical engineering so you can repair your plumbing. There are lots of skills an electrician has that are not taught in engineering school. If you have a degree in mechanical engineering that doesn't mean you are qualified to tear down an engine and rebuild it. I am not trying to make fun of your question but you should choose a discipline that suits your abilities and interests.
