Q: what do you think about it? Is it a good steel for the money? the knife that i have with that steel is the kershaw chill. good knife for the price
8Cr13MoV is a decent blade steel...not a great steel, but about as good as you will generally find without paying much higher prices. It's used by a number of well known knife makers... It's basically equivalent to AUS-8 and will work and hold an edge reasonably well for most basic cutting chores. *************************************** From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: 8Cr13MoV, a Chinese stainless steel tempered at the Rc56 to Rc58 range and used in the Tenacious, Persistence, Ambitious, Resilience, Grasshopper, Kiwi3 and Byrd lines of knives. Often compared to AUS-8, but with slightly more Carbon.
Q: I bought a steel pendant on eBay, but it turned out to be too shiny.I've read on a couple forums that if I leave it soaked in urine for 2 days, it will get duller. Now, if it really does get duller, will the pendant get rusty afterwards? So is the shiny surface the only thing that prevents it from rusting?Any simple, non-urine ideas on how to make it duller are welcome too. Thanks!
Stainless steel will rust under proper conditions. I live on a boat on salt water, trust me. If the urine works it won't be prone to rusting any more than before. It's not the shine that inhibits rusting with stainless steel, it the % of carbon in the steel, compared to regular steel. IF the urine works it's because it is acidic (a mild acid). Wash it with a small brush and some baking soda to neutralize the acid when your done. A much stronger acid would be swimming pool acid. (Muriatic acid) but be careful you might test a spot with a Q tip on the back. If you try Muriatic acid it would take seconds. Then wash in baking soda water to remove all acid.. SS
Q: What are the common defects found in steel coils?
Some common defects found in steel coils include surface defects like scratches, indentations, and pits, as well as internal defects such as cracks, lamination, and segregation. Other defects can include edge wave, coil breaks, and coil set.
Q: How are steel coils inspected for defects after recoiling?
Steel coils are inspected for defects after recoiling by conducting visual inspections, using non-destructive testing methods such as ultrasonic testing or magnetic particle inspection, and conducting measurements to check for dimensional accuracy and straightness.
Q: for a roof spanning 14.4m x 8.4m on a residential house, is it better to use timber trusses or steel trusses? the priorities are; ease of construction, price, insulation (want to keep heat out, i am in a tropical country), durability, flexibility, minimal load on foundations.please help. thank you :-)
U will to find details on metal trussesin constructing materials AND development through BINDRA AND ARORA and u may additionally to find them in MCKAY(B.M.C).About steel doors and windows search the net u can search in google or yahoo u will to find it . Ok bye bye all of the exceptional.
Q: Alright...Please tell me what I can and can't buy for Steel Legion in detail(Much Detail please)Ogryns.Las canons. The problem I'm having is that they don't have steel Legion Uniform..does it matter?1.I also heard that you can't use Commisar Yarrick.(So what could I use?)2.What are my Hq choices,Fast attack,Heavy Support,Elite etc.3.Steel Legion has a Commisar....(Do I buy one for each squad of Steel Legion or one?)Please in detail what should I buy...I don't have the codex yet but will soon!!4.I also heard that if I get Steel Legion I need a transport for everything?(Is this true?)5.Please be detail on what i can't and can buy!!(Please like HQ Squad leader,Sargent)
here are a couple of things about the steel legion. you should have a lot of mechanized units, have chimaras for rvery squad if posible, artillery fire helps a hell of a lot. also sentinals and leman russes and hell hounds also help. if in apocolypse, use banblades and titans. storm trooper squads should be your base squadrons. put them in chimeras and get near the action, drop 'em off and rapid fire like CRAZY!!! the steel legion loves heavy weapons so remember to get some heavy weapons platforms. there favourite weapons are grenade and missle launchers. there is also an officer you can buy with a power sword with the steel legion look. steel legion are big xeno hunters. because commisar is a ork killer you should be allowed to field him. ratling/ sniper squads also help and if you can get a vindicare assassin that is very useful.
Q: Please explain why steel is denser than wood.
Steel is basically a mixture (not the compound) of iron and carbon. Iron, by itself is an element and so is carbon. The atoms of Iron are larger in size compared to carbon. All the atoms of all the elements, smaller or larger, are spherical. If naturally a solid, the atoms of all such elements have voids as their atoms are closely packed. You can imagine a basket of oranges; you could see that void or empty space (which I am speaking about) between four or more of the oranges put together. Now, when heated to more than about 1500 degrees celcius, Iron melts and atoms in molten form increase space between themselves. Raising the teperature to 1800 degree celcius, carbon is mixed with iron. At this stage it causes the spherical carbon atoms to fill in the spaces present amongst the spherical atoms of the iron. On cooling, already dense iron becomes denser because no space is left there between its atoms. This denser form of iron + carbon has become steel in which carbon is not more than 3 to 4% of the total volume. Wood is nothing but a fallen and dried tree's part. When green and alive, tree's stem and branches have pores in there texture, which are fillled with water and other biological fluids necessary for the life of the plant. When dried all the fluids, especially water gets evaporated. and the pore are empty now. The term Density, means mass divided by volume (kg / cubic meters). Iron + Carbon (the steel) so tightly packed and Iron having very high atomic weight is surely denser than wood with just carbon and a few other elements with no significant role to play in the mass calculation; particularly if their are empty pore spaces filled with air only. Imagine the mass (which common people mistakingly call the weight) in kilograms of a peice of steel with dimensions of 1 meter cube and imagine the same for the dried wood. What do you think---which one is denser?
Q: What are the different methods of edge camber correction for steel coils?
There are several methods for edge camber correction in steel coils, including mechanical methods, thermal methods, and combination methods. Mechanical methods involve using tension leveling or roller leveling processes to straighten the edges of the coil. Thermal methods involve using heat to soften the steel and then applying pressure to straighten the edges. Combination methods involve using a combination of mechanical and thermal processes to correct the edge camber of the steel coils.
Q: Okay basically bought my girlfriend Tiffany sterling silver necklace for her birthday and now christmas is coming up i want to buy her this DG Necklace. BUT i have discovered its steel. And its ?110. I am not a rich man i am infact quite young and we have been together for an incredibly long time! I wanted to know is Steel seen as a cheap necklace, whats your say? Don't give me all this bull about her being grateful as she does not expect this. BUT I WANT IT TO BE NICE. Whats your say? Is Steel good? Does it get dirty? Does it shine? Is it worth it? Thanks x
Things about steel~ Basically indestructable Should be non magnetic It shines Why not get it
Q: Hi, I need to know why stainless steel is rust proof please tell me its for my science project. :)
Why doesn't stainless steel rust? Nancy Avery, New London, Conn. Metallurgical engineer Michael L. Free of the University of Utah offers this explanation: Stainless steel remains stainless, or does not rust, because of the interaction between its alloying elements and the environment. Stainless steel contains iron, chromium, manganese, silicon, carbon and, in many cases, significant amounts of nickel and molybdenum. These elements react with oxygen from water and air to form a very thin, stable film that consists of such corrosion products as metal oxides and hydroxides.
